Not exactly the best advice. Those are the two things that Miatas don't need upgrading first. The stock brakes are good for 240rwhp since it's a light car. Only when it is taken to the track (ie Summit Point) does the fluid and pads need upgrading to avoid fade. The stock Mazdaspeed springs and Bilstein shocks are fine.

Thanks man, im actually thinking about ordering the FM kit tomorrow, just pending on the guys at Mazda-speed to tell me if its a good idea to throw the extra power to the car without a tune.

There's no need to tune a car with a few basic bolt ons. You'll only want to tune it once you go with a different fuel/timing map system, bigger injectors, more boost, etc. BPU and the stock ECU is sufficient as long as you stay below 10 psi.

Cool, so I can freely throw 9psi at it without having to re-tune anything?

you should be fine. you won't get detonation with the stock turbo and stock injectors until 12 psi with 93 octane.

Was worth a shot, I know most cars thats what one should do first. In that case carry on with the gauges and little things first.. Still say he should get to know your car more tho before really touching the engine. Especially since he is new to Turbo'd cars.
