Subarus are great cars in my opinion. If you keep up with maintenance 100,000 miles is nothing more than a milestone and it will keep going well beyond that. As soon as you get more than stock power at these cars, subaru's 5MT starts showing weakness.

Is this car going to be modified extensively? You going to DD it? What do you want from this car?

Its going to be modded lightly...yes it will be a DD but comfort and practicality arent a concern of mine. It has to be a fun car, thats all.

lol, you get your hopes up for something new and gaurantee it will get done every few weeks. There was the SRT-4 thread, the done modding stage, the turbo civic stage, and now this? And Im sure Im missing something in there as well.

RWD is cake in the snow, just throw two 50 lb bags of salt in the back if your really nervous, but thats not even necessary. Ive never had problems in the snow over the last three years. But then again some things u say about your driving, I wouldnt be so optimistic.

You would rape a WRX tranny, and probably hurt urself in the process. The Civic is probably the best choice, not too fast, good in all weather, and its a boat so if you ever crash it, it would protect you a lot more than a miata and you wouldnt lose out on as much money as the WRX.

car is 99% decided upon, and its not a wrx but something a bit cheaper. Thanks everyone for your help, but I like to drive my cars hard and I dont think I could get away with that in the WRX without some BIG repair bills.

You wouldn't have to drive the wrx hard considering it's over 2 seconds faster than your civic. Hell, I bet you could beat your current car at partial in a wrx.

Is it an RS? I think that would be a decent car for you, better then the WRX imo...

well not that i cant hold it in bu id rather post and maybe get ideas and feedback and issues now than have them be a mystery. Im pretty much set on this car, I know it dosnt have comfort and practicality but I really dont give a **** anymore. I saw a guy driving one this morning and he had the top down it was misting outside and he had a smile on his face the whole time. I finally talked to him at a light and he said "i got it new in 91, drive it everywhere 300k miles no serious problems i love it"

The car I chose is an NA body miata

Mods will start off probbably cosmetically with new wheels and tires, a rollbar, and lowering kit

I read good things about the Jackson Racing M45 supercharger, and since the car only weighs all of 2300lbs it will be great fun, even stock. Il eventually pick up some blizzaks for the stock wheels and some cement bags for the trunk when winter comes around. Looking for a 94-97 model prefer M edition. Id love to get an STO (special touring option) but they are a bit more money, and so rare that I wouldnt even dare drive it in the winter time or remotely bad weather to preserve its condition

Any light to be shed about these cars post away! im excited. negative comments need not be posted. im looking for weak points, strong points, common problems, reliability, aftermarket support, etc. If you are going to say something like "miatas are chick cars" you can keep your 2 cents and negativity to yourself.

while I like the Miata purely for the driving experience. I hate that body style with a passion. I think I actually vomit in my mouth a little each time I see one.

Good luck with the new car

real drivers buy miatas, and they keep the exterior stock as hell. please dont do any exterior mods to that car and muck it all up. start getting into autoxing and get serious about that, you'll thank me later.

Thats the idea. But a rollbar is good for safety, especially after seeing the rollover test on youtube. Wider wheels for a meatier tire, etc. but im more concentrated on getting the civic out and the mx-5 in before any mods are concerned. Thanks for the advice

Alex...here ya go. Not under 6, but to be honest with you, you want to stay newer. These are VERY reasonable.
