Thanks

Bought a new antenna, radio, speakers, and the rest of the install stuff... Amazon shipped the install kit with plastic trim ring at the bottom of the box, under the radio and speakers. Broken install kit, way to go idiots. I should be able to do the install this weekend, and hopefully refinish my headliner at the same time.

New metal coolant flange, hurray!

Hopefully this is the last of the leaking coolant...

Wow, brand new flange a few weeks ago, warped already:

Even more craptastic flange. This is terrible quality:

Long weekend... Fixed the antenna (it was broken off at the base), fixed the vapor barriers (no more leaks, woot), recovered the headliner (yay, no more sag), wired in a radio and door speakers (yay, music) and fixed a lot of rattles.

I dig these older VW's. What did your brother do with the wheels that were on his car? You should slap those on.

He sold them to fund his new purchase. You can see his Jetta chilling in the yard. The white Jetta is a friends, 16v swapped.

Thanks! Now if only the glue I used wasn't crap... it's peeling a little already. I'll have to pull it and do it again, but this time I will use the strongest stuff available.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Might just pay to have it done professionally, at least it will be warranted then, I'd hope.

Pick up a hvlp gun from harbor freight for $10 (don't forget 20% off coupon) and pick up a quart of contact cement. Spray the glue through the gun.

Not sure my compressor can handle a gun, I'll have to look into it. On a side note, I dumped a bottle of UV dye into my coolant, but I'm not seeing any evidence of leaking. Bah. Guess it's either burping coolant still, or I have a BHG.

Threw down a deposit on a 1.8L 16v head (higher flow than the 2.0L, thanks VW) that includes 268-ish cams (Autotech Sport) and a fresh rebuild. Here we go
