And yes, when everything is said, done, and installed, I will show you the dyno sheets of my 400HP Sentra. Trust me, it wasn't the plan, but plans change. And so what if it is FWD, go look at Qwibby's build thread for some serious FWD power. I never said anything about making power in the Z. As I said I am going for looks and handling first, power will be down the road, and if I don't build the stock engine, then I am going VG33. |

I know what your going through and I can say I feel the biggest issues to address are the tune and the turbo. You can definitely hit 400chp on this stock block. If your not going to use the car alot I would keep a stock block they should last atleast 50k miles under decent boost with a good tune. Nissan makes some excellent engines and the forged blocks are great but than your spending a ton when maybe an extra 300 on a better tune could have saved you. By summer there is an excellent chance that Jersey will have 4 400+hp 2nd gen altimas. If we can do it you definitely can.

Yea it is going to cost me a pretty penny, and I could even opt, spend an extra 1k and get the superior and super sexy SQR23DE-T engine which can rev to almost 9k and hold 600hp. But that is overkill, and I would have to make serious frame reinforcements to keep it from twisting under such a heavy load. Thanks for your input and thoughts, I appreciate it but this is the best way to go in the long run. As I have said before, I don't know if I will ever sell the car so I might as well beef it up now. |

Last I checked I've only seen 1 sqr23. I know that she put a lot of money and work into that car as well. Travis may have built a couple, but I never heard much about them. I don't frequent the b15 boards very often. You know how we b16 people are. What forum are you most active on these days bates?

Well, my current TT engine build is gonna take at least a few more months and I need the n/a motor in the car in the mean time. I'll hit you up when it comes out, though.

I may go with a VG33E engine though. Good power, and drops right in. There are plenty of little mods that need to be done to make it work, but regardless, it is a common swap for the Z31. |

And everything has now been put on hold. I get to start off the new year by looking for a new job, my asshole ex-company gave me some BS stories and laid me off. May they choke on their own greed and foolishness.

Still not sure what to do. I have some interviews coming up so money may not be an option and I can continue with the plan at hand if I can jump right back into a job, but I need to figure out something quick. The front main seal on the Z is leaking oil, and I don't want to spend the money to fix it right now, I would much rather just do an engine swap lol. I am still leaning toward the built motor for the Sentra, and just might sell some things to help fund it.

UPDATE:
The shop doing all the work to the Sentra is moving at the end of the month because their lease is up, so I needed to get the car back on the road so it could be moved. Converted it back to NA for the time being until I can rebuild the engine. Despite it going back to NA, the new clutch and flywheel is in and some other little issues were fixed. The car will be back in its glory soon enough, but for now, it runs, and it will be better for me in the snow then the Z lol. |

Man, I haven't been on in a while but ****ty turn of events. I have the same leak on the stock bottom end that I put in the race z31 and it's a pain to get the crank timing belt gear off. If you need someone to work on the z I could help you out as I am job hunting as well. Putting a z32 motor would be a pain and barely fits. It would be better to put a turbo vg30 or vg33e. Let me know if need any help. I also found a nice machine shop that is affordable and really knows there stuff if you want to build your engines.

Yea, I have been thinking about just doing a VG30ET for the Z, but regardless I need to do that damn front main seal. The leak isn't bad, maybe a quart every 3 weeks, but it is still annoying lol. Come Spring time we need to get together so we can do some work. Got the Sentra back yesterday. Stage 3 clutch and 11 lb flywheel= Not a fun daily. Lol. Even being back NA, with the new flywheel, it revs quick as hell and really moves. It's still a blast to drive now even without the turbo, but it won't be long until it is boosted again. |

So I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. Input and suggestions please.
I can get a brand new partially forged Spec-V engine (forged pistons) for around 2k which would let me boost the car safely to upwards of 350hp or Spend 600$ for a turbo conversion (missing DP and turbo), which includes a JDM VG30ET low mileage engine, spend a few hundred more for the extra parts and possibly hit 350+HP in the Z. What should I do? |

Tough call.
I'm partially biased you know rolling a ~300whp spec so.... that gets my vote. The z31 would be fun though, but I think that car may just be a tiny bit more of a headache than the V. |

With an intercooler setup, nistune, 440cc injectors and a 60 trim you could make 450 whp on a stock z motor safely. I guess it would come down to which car you need to modify to get running again. If you need to fix the z I would definitely spend the cash and just turbo it, even if just stock for now. They are way more fun turbo and you could probably run a high 12 with the stock turbo. I did a 13.3 at ten psi with an open diff. Is the forged bottom a one time deal or the going rate? Isn't the sentra running again?
