I can promise your insurance is much higher than mine, yet my subbie will run as good or better times at the track, and I love my interior more. I would take your care over mine without a doubt, but no way is insurance less than my friend's 2011 sti. I was with him when we got quotes for both. Remember a wrx is a sedan, your a sports car. The modding scene for z's isn't cheap at all you want quality brand names. If your going ebay name but quality products it can be reasonable, but all cars are that way.

And I agree I never got how people would do anything without a tune, especially with tuners available like accessport where you can just download maps with no problems.

That is badass, I would daily it, track it, everything. Also I agree that there is definitely something cool about it that's why built>bought always.

3.0 L (2960 cc) VG30DETT produces 300 hp F/I
3.5 L (3498 cc) VQ35DE produces 300hp N/A

displacement .5l ~ T22 turbos on stock boost levels

i would almost argue that japan is going N/A for fuel economy/$ savings, but for the most part needs bigger engines because of the demanded weight in cars, theres no 2,400 pound hondas anymore. They are almost taking after the muscle car ideal for their performance cars. Subaru gets bigger turbos every other year, just jumped to 2.5l standard, toyota doesnt even care about performance unless its their new miata, mazda went from 2.0 turbo (90s) to 2.3 bigger turbo, but the rx-8 is N/A with more displacement along with their full line up. nissan went away from FI (besides the skyline) but went to bigger displacement motors, and mitsubishi didnt follow suit with the evo they stayed 2.0 but just put in bigger turbos, they did (tried to) with the eclipse making it a v6 but that car blew.
Just fyi, Subaru was 2.5 before they were 2.0, and the turbos are just because they are moving towards Japanese setups more and the wrx is getting the old sti setups. Europe seems to be the biggest in terms of downsizing their motors, they are already selling 2 and 3 cylinder cars there.

Also some of these cars weigh more now, for example most Honda's and Nissan's have increased in weight steadly. They are built for mpg, efficency, and emission/safety requirements. Dodge still has a big engine, but you have to skip gears if your driving to fast to save mpg. Camaro's turn cylinders down to get better mpg. It's all a matter of the individual car styling changing, there is no more of a car manufacturer only building cars one way.

350/370z cheap to mod? lolwut? I remember looking at 350zs and "cheap" could not be used to describe anything about that cars aftermarket. Cheap to mod would be mustangs, LS powered chevys, hondas, and 4G63 powered cars.

Sometimes, I come into this thread and want to light my hair on fire and sit on the roof of a really tall building in an attempt to understand the lack of anti-rad in the world.

Also, Foolin'bro, I shall be at the museum steps to meet my sister-in-law for the first time, yes?

Yes, older established platforms are of course going to be cheaper than newer ones.

Perhaps "cheap" isn't the best word -- but expensive? Not really, unless you are looking for FI, but that is hardly different than any other platform. The Z isn't any more expensive than any other modern NA platform out there.

I'm also not speaking of JDM stuff either, as most of that crap is pretty overpriced and worthless. The best performing brands for the Z are some of the cheapest -- and most are from the U.S., hilariously enough. Fast Intentions, AAM, GTM, etc.

Lower than a 2011 STi? I have no idea. But a 2008 STi? Yes. Same for an Evo. And a Camaro SS. And a 135i. All by a significant amount, too.

Being a "sports car" doesn't really matter. I thought the same thing when I was shopping around, but power numbers/sportiness don't really factor into the price. What factors in is driver data + the history of the car in question, or the age of the demographic buying them.

I say this, because my quote for a 2008 C6 Vette was a tad lower than my 370. When I asked why, it was explained to me that the average age of the car drives the price down. The same thing for the 370 -- the projected average owner age was higher than the 350, or something. The more you know!

edit: for the curious, the most expensive was the 135i, followed by the Camaro. The STi was a tad more expensive than the Evo, and the 370 was under that.

edit2: because I like writing a lot of words, what's your interior look like? i actually love the 370's interior, because I'm a small dude (5'6 115lbs), and every other car on the market feels like it was built for huge people.

IMO the z's interior 350/370 is one of my all time favorites. it really has a sports car feeling to it.

Subaru are slow. Doesn't seem like you can make a lot of HP on those cars without splitting the block in half.

With that said. JDM as ****, probably the best example of a sick/clean GVR4, not to crazy about the wheels though but thats easy to change.

I like Subarus, but I'm also not that interested in pushing big numbers, so there's that.
