Yes.

Option 1 is for someone that won't go to the track but still wants to use a hard top or aftermarket soft top with a glass window.

Good thing I didn't jump on the sport before then. Defiantely on the to-do list though.

phillicivicsi...I have those same wheels on my tC.

CN get wheels, tires, rollbar then suspension. You are going to be in a Street Mod or Street Prepared with those rails and they will do _very_ little to help you. The chassis is stiff enough for 95% of autoxers and track day enthusiasts. I think you'd be throwing money away with that kind of brace—or any subframe brace.

There are far better mods to get and skipping the $400 brace puts you $400 closer to your other mods.

Say I wanted to skip wheels for now, should I just get a good UHP tire, stock size or a little wider, or maybe an rt615 or rs2 if I can find them?

No autocrosses yet for me.

If you are serious about autoxing, you need to do more research about what class you are going to be in (even though you will probably not be competitive for a while) and start making decisions about wheels and tires based on classing.

Regionally, you could run in STX2 if you have stock boost levels, but C Stock or B Street Prepared are the National classes for the MSM, and I am fairly certain you'll be in BSP.

Wheel and tires widths are limited in certain classes too.
Don't waste your money on 615s or RS2s for n autox tire, no matter what class you are running in. Check out the Dunlop Direzza or the Toyo R1R (I ran these this past year with a decent amount of success).

Start Reading.

He's running higher than stock boost so he's already bumped into SM.

I can always turn it back down to stock...or just tuck my MBC away away from prying eyes?

Increased boost is SP legal.

While hiding your MBC might get passed tech for an event or two, someone will notice and you will be forever looked at as a "cheat." I don't recommend it.

Even if you left it in plain sight, it might get "overlooked" but that won't fly for more than event or two, and even then you really are only cheating yourself if you are serious about the sport. Again, I don't recommend it.

Haha, I was kidding about it. Do they care if you have a boost regulatory device? Like if I had an EBC usually at 9psi and then turned it down to stock 7 for the events?

Its SCCA. They're pretty anal about it.

His recirculating valve is a violation.

14.10 Engine and Drive Train

This allowance does not permit changes to blow-off (pop-off) valves. Devices known as "fuel cut defensers", and any modifications which alter or defeat the fuel cutoff when it is activated by boost level, are not permitted.

Does it matter that it's still a recirculation device like the stock one?

That I don't know but almost every other classification doesn't allow for an aftermarket replacement. It's as if you've got a stock FSTB and changing it out to something else; that'd still be a violation.

Interesting...hopefully they don't put me in too high of a class, I don't care about being competitive right off the bat, but I think after a few events I will start actually trying to shave off time and start placing well...if there are 50 cars that run in my class and I can be in the top 1/4 or so by the end of the season, I will be more than happy.

Well, you'll be in Novice (a subclass) for your first six events or so, or until you feel ready to move up within the first season.

So, you'll be competing against other novices, not so much against everyone in your class, unless there are novices in your class.

Just jumping back to this. My friend who has an NA STO Miata told me about these tires about a year ago, he has them on his car and loves them. Said they wear very well, heat cycle well, grip well, and generally do everything well. I couldn't find them, and finally did on TireRack where they place 19th in the category, with the Yokohama S.drive being first but higher priced, and the General Exclaim UHP being 4th, similar to the Direzza in price, and better reviews. What made you suggest the Direzza. The r1r looks more like an auto-x tire, I need something I can drive on every day as well.
