Hopefully he's done with having to go back to the hospital at all .. They hauled him in on Wednesday for an appointment with his orthopedic (leg) surgeon, and then tests/scans on his digestive tract and bladder. Surgeon was very pleased with how his leg is starting to heal (though he reiterated that it's gonna be a minimum of 3 months before B can start to put ANY sort of weight on that leg) .. and the tests/scans came back clear. I just got home about 20 minutes ago from helping him get a shower and ready for bed. I'm so effing beat anymore that I'm lucky if I can keep my eyes open in class.

geeze Cindy, I hate to hear about stuff like that. Even when I was in CHOP for my shunt replacement (twice when I was younger) the nurses tended to forget about me. Even with a tube hanging out of my head draining into a bag that almost overflowed 3 times, to when my IV points were turning red and itching, they would still brush me off. it's why I am terrified of having to go to the hospital ever again, even at 22 years old.
so I know first hand how much that sucks. the only thing that kept me going was my mom because she just sat there and supported me no matter how much pain I was in. you being there surely helps him a lot even if he is in excruciating pain. obviously you have been persistent and that's all you can really do. I really do think about this once a day because it really breaks my heart to see this happening to someone I know (even if it is so little). but anyway. I hope you get some rest and im glad to see that things are still semi-ok with the healing and stuff. he's alive, that's all that matters.

God bless. thats awful to hear. But its good to see he is out there living life to the fullest. We learn more from things like this than from things going smoothly, he will recover and have a better overall understanding of what life means in the end.
Just stay the course, things will work out. Have faith and support each other. |

No really big updates to add .. Life is pretty much 'one day at a time' at this point.
His lungs are back to normal, but his digestive tract is still struggling a bit. But the docs have said that's to be expected with the pain-killers that he's on, and won't completely resolve until he's stopped those meds. So those 'complications' are as good as they're gonna get at the moment. He's definitely making progress in rehab! He can get himself in and out of bed almost entirely by himself -- tho' sometimes he still needs somebody to pick up his shattered leg for him, since the muscle in that quad is all sorts of messed up. He can get to the bathroom without any help at all. And he's starting to be able to 'walk' short distances -- with a walker, of course. He's also learned how to dress himself, using some of the rehab tools. Of course, every day is exhausting. He finishes physical therapy at 2:30pm and collapses into bed immediately afterward. I'll sit with him while he sleeps for a few hours, before we go down to dinner together at 5:30pm. Then I'll help him get a shower. I'm the only person he'll let shower him .. I jokingly told him he should take advantage of the nurses while he's here, but he only rolled his eyes at me and said no. Mentally, he seems to be in a .. I dunno what word to use .. not exactly a depression, but in some sort of 'regret' phase. He's been getting pretty clingy towards me (even moreso than he was originally). And he repeatedly apologizes for 'treating me like ****' before the accident, since he and I would argue constantly about his skydiving .. because I was always terrified that something like this would happen (or worse, that he'd kill himself) while he had the 'I Am Young And Invincible' mindset. Anyway. The docs told us yesterday that they're hoping to send him 'home' next Friday. Of course, 'home' will NOT be our house at first .. There's no way he can handle the amount of steps we have. So he'll be moving in with his parents for a couple months, since they have a rancher and his mom doesn't work.

Glad to hear he is progressing. You're doing a hell of a job staying with him and being by his side, I am sure that means a lot to him.
And you always feel invisible until it happens to you, after that you change your view on it.

Cindy, i just saw this and i am so sorry for what you two are going through. B will be in my prayers.
From the sound of it, he seems to be in the stage where he realizes he almost lost everything and is regretting every little thing he's done. He'll get through this, and have a bigger appreciation of life and how amazing everything is. You are such a strong woman and i respect you so much for all that you are doing. I know that i would just break down from all the stress. Hope his recovery goes quickly!!

For anyone in the central PA area ..
.. WGAL (Channel 8) is doing a story on B and his accident tonight. It'll be on during the 6pm news. AKA, now.

I dunno if your network listing-thingies are the same for you as they are for me, LOL. WGAL is channel 8 on my TV, but I dunno WTF it could be on other people's!
It's a station that broadcasts in the central PA area, so I dunno if you'd even get it.
