They're some really good premade ones out there too. Nature's Variety, like you mentioned is one of the best. Bravo, Primal, Aunt Jeni's. Also, some diets that are considered home cooked like Honest Kitchen, you can add meat or serve as is.

Just like everything else, you will get different opinions from everyone You need to find what fits your dogs, budget, and schedule.
