ok. both points lead to the same path. belief. if you believe in something you will at times go to the latter parts of the world for it. as for christmas well, that's a very touchy subject for some and absolutely nothing for others. some say that their faith is better than others and others the same. just look at life like this whatever you believe in makes you happy or your god or gods happy then good for you. EVERYTHING is commercialized look at our society where reality and "real life " are in stark contrast to each other. Religion is like *ssholes everybody has 1. even aethists (sp?) believe in something. which is there is no god.. soo lets stop the nitpicking and just celebrate CHRISTMAS

I will NEVER conform to something I don't believe in. I CHOOSE to make my own path and give thought to those around me and thier feelings and beliefs. Isn't that religious?

Yes, but there is a way to say it, and there isn't a way. Defending your faith ("taking up your cross") is much, much more different than being a jerk (for more on that form of proselytizing, check out St. Josemaria Escriva).

Ninja Edit: Taking up a cross is a self sacrifise for the betterment of yourself and what you believe to be the betterment of others. I always thought it was about turning inward, not outward.

And to end todays involvement:

Merry Christmas, and have a happy and safe Holiday.

Because everyone has their own beliefs on how religion got started.
Then it just would lead religions to think that one is better then another because another one is incorrect. Kinda like present day.

i just hate all the PC **** nowadays especially when it comes to religion. i just dont understand why people cant face it that people have different beliefs and different holidays.

holidays now are more about being with family and commercialized like you said.

Not necessarily; you can not prove a religion to be true or false. There is no empiric evidence either way. All that does is respect different cultures- you can say they are "misguided", but you can not render judgment. There are plenty of works on this, if you want to get into it further feel free to PM me lol

It's all relative to negative theology as well. Basically the transcendence of God which can not be broken into by humanity. Babel is a prime example. Different languages- no singular language. Metaphorical understanding. **** like that.

I absolutely despise PC, but I stand up for my faith. I have the right to do so, just as you have the right to do against it. My biggest problem is with people who make you nothing because your beliefs are not "relative" to theirs. In my personal history, I have found this most to do with radical "atheists" and evangelicals, to the same degree in both. Both are radical forms of thought (on each side of the spectrum), and both disallow any conversation about what goes on between those two "poles" of thought. Quite frustrating and demeaning IMHO.

It's about respect mainly, but knowing where to not disrespect yourself. By giving up your belief, you are disrespecting yourself. It's a tedious line.

yea i hear you. i was brought up roman catholic. i dont care much for religion like i said because it causes to many problems. but i was also brought up to respect other people and their beliefs because everyone is different. so i dont care what you are just dont try to preach to me about it. i dont even want catholics to preach to me cause i dont care. i live my life the way i think would be a good life, not the way a certain religion can influence me and teach me they are the only "right" religion.

Yea..I hate preaching, I hate the idea of forcefully doing anything to be honest with you. Radical groups do that, and I hate them.

You cant Just be clear? I personally do not follow any belief period. Its not important to me. Just as I dont see the 25 as anything but a reason to give and receive and eat an assload of food. But if someone came to me and said happy kwanzaa I would be like oh, Shalom to you, I have christmas.

Being clear is different from being disrespectful.

And everyone has a belief, it's a matter of its focus.
