Do you pay rent/ utilities too?

Often it is cheaper to have a car on your parents Insurance because multi car discounts, more experienced divers, or any other factors. However, to put a car on your parent's insurance policy, their name has to be on the car as well (usually as a cosigner). At least that is the way I understand it.

At the same time just because someone is on their parents insurance does not mean they don't pay their own way. My mom had to cosign for the loan on my car (I had little to no credit at the time), and my car is still on their policy while I live at home. My brother is the same way, but the cars our our responsibility. Financially and otherwise.

Yeah, sorry man, but I definitely can't feel for you.

Be happy with the car(s) you have and spend your money on those.

Not currently, and I didn't complain for the 4 months that they made me At any rate, that's an apples to orange comparison AT BEST to this situation. A similar situation would be if I asked my parents to buy me my own house, and they said no. Get it? Got it? Good. See, the difference is, I don't complain about my already fortunate situation. I'm thankful for it.

I can see it from both sides i suppose. However, I have no sympathy. If he is going to be taking over the family business later on in life, what is the point of getting out of it to work for someone else? However, it is odd that you say you can't move out because you're in school yet can afford an m3, s2k, and an nsx. If I were you, i would live at home, continue working for you parents, and be happy with the cars you have. Then take the monthly payments for the nsx which was obviously disposable income, and invest in mutual funds and such. Or if your dad's company offers any kind of 401k, put it in there. Then retire at 40 with plenty of money

Again, if you read the posts, I don't think that is where the large majority of us are going. We are just pointing out the spoiled brat antics displayed by Mkai. There is a difference between being spoiled (I'll be damned if my future kids aren't spoiled), and being a spoiled brat (if they fall in to this category, well, I can tell you spoiled won't be in their vocab.).

no i read all the posts. I wasn't saying anything about what everyone else was saying. I was just stating what i would do. As for the continuing working for his dad part, a few people did say something about going and getting a job on his own. I was just saying. Also, my kids are going to be spoiled as well, but they'll respect it and earn it. Once they start taking it for granted it all goes down hill

Thats perfectly fine. You don't know me so I don't expect you to believe me when i say that. However I have been given alot in my life, and im thankful for everything. I had some things taken away, and some expenses added on, and I didn't complain one bit. I can understand where you are coming from though. If someone is raised in that environment and brought up getting everything they want, then its not surprising if they complain when something like this happens

I'm Merely expressing my opinion.

I havent ever been "given" alot...I've had some assitance but I always repaid the person who helped me

But either way I'm still happy with where I'm at since I got there myself mostly

Oh i know, and you are more then entitled to express it. Like I said I have been given some things, however, when i graduate, Im going to be making alot of money and I will be paying back my parents in other ways. So it will come full circle.

Being happy in life is the greatest thing, so you are just as wealthy as mkai (go cheesey sayings wooo)

ditto! My mom tries to provide for me as well as she can, but being a single mother on permanent disability kinda makes it tough. And as for getting a job, well for some reason no one wants me? LOL! Hopefully wal-mart hires me...*fingers crossed*. I'll be honest, I'm just jealous. I wish I was rich. I'm just sick of wondering what bill we wont be able to afford this month. And I'm sure theres a lot of people on here who can relate, or know the feeling. Its just tough is all. Although the only thing semi-decent coming from my moms disability is that hopefully I'll be able to get more financial aid for ATC, like scholarships and grants and what not.

After typing up this whole thing to explain myself and my situation better I decided not to as it is after all my life and I will leave the past behind me. All I'm going to say now is that was what I felt at the time I posted it much like the rants many others have posted before me. Also believe me when I say this, at one point in time we (my family and I) were much less fortunate than many if not all of you.

Hell, if I had money there would be an R34 and a 22B sitting in my driveway. I wouldn't flaunt it though. In all honesty I can understand what it feels like not having money (when I first moved here trust me, we literally had zero money in the bank) and having to work every single day to just get by. I've been there.

Then again if I had THAT much money I would also give a huge chunk of it away because I cannot stand the idea that one person has enough wealth to encompass someones lifetime dreams in their driveway at a whim.

If you want to know how I really feel...

I think its a little nuts to be working on your third really nice car without being self sufficient elsewhere. Insure your own cars, pay your own bills, dont live with your parents... that seems pretty obvious to me. If you've got the cash to be buying another car, then stop weening off of mommy and daddy everywhere else and get out into the world.

On another subject, if your dad wont allow you to buy a car and its because you work for him, then your work situation is totally borked. At work he should treat you as an employee, and you should act like one. You earn your wages and they are yours to do with what you want.

Don't be that guy who has the exotic car and lives with mommy and daddy until he's 35.
