Well I can assure you that I know whats going on under my car. Maybe its because I have been driving it for a while like Troll said.

You were not pusing the car anywhere near the limits because that cannot be done safely on public roads! Sure my daily drive is a little boring because the car is too powerful to make an exciting drive for the couple of miles I drive!

Now if my daily drive every day went through some tiny backroads with tons of twists and some open straights then maybe its a fun backroad.

The WRX/STi's are fun cars when you wanna unleash them, and they are also comfortable daily drivers with all the amenities that you would expect from your upper mid-class cars. Its definatly more comfortable and has more features than a civic, but not on the level of a BMW/Lexus/Mercedes, but thats understandable because its not meant to be in any of those classes.

I've driven many Subarus on the lot and I'm not a really a fan of the whole "feel" of driving the car. However, when you nail it and that turbo pins you to your seat, thats a good time.

Troll,
I love my sloppy shifter! Playing "wait, what gear did I just shift into!?" is a fun game in my Civic that makes up for it's blah-some slowness. If you hear a grind then you hit fourth gear!

Before I got my new shifter, and after I traded the Z, I literally had no idea if I was in 2nd or 4th. The skipshift didnt help, but still, it was really a fun time sometimes. Luckily I would realize before anything bad happened..and now its obviously not a problem.

Each car has their ups and downs. I think what upsets me about cars is that we become such fanboys that we believe everything we do/say/own is correct, and everything else is wrong. One side of that is great..I love my car very much, and will defend it to my death. The other side of that is just rude to the fellow enthusiast.

so this thread is going no where... this kid doesnt agree with us... and we probably arent going to be able to convince him to agree with us... like i said before... i kind of agree with the feel thing... but the car is heavy... its not going to feel the same as a fwd econo car from the early 90's or any other car from the 90's for that matter... open your mind a bit raven... thats all im saying...

Honestly, I tried. I wanted to go and drive that car and suddenly understand what everyone loves. I wanted to be wrong about the car. I wanted the reason everyone loved it to be because it's an awesome drive. Trouble is everyone loves it cause it's cheap speed and there are 70 million parts for it. The drive, apart from the amazing awd grip and the very darty nature of the car, felt a bit average. It's a really good car, just not as good as I was hoping it to be.

Okay i have a little to offer since working for dealerships for the last 5 years. I have driven tons of cars, and I mean tons. If it was a fun car I can gaurantee that I beat the snot out of it till my heart was content. And personally I think the great road feel that you are talking about is shoddy old suspension. I will agree that A stock WRX will not feel amazing. I almost brought mine back after trading my Spec-v in for one. Honestly the problem is in the tires. I have had my rotas since the summer and the biggest differece was adding the 2 inches and harder sidewall. When I put my snow wheels back on even with the suspension backing that ive done, you lose the road feel, and seriously compromise the handling. Any WRX owner will tell you 02-07 toss the RE92s they arent a pro tire theyre an all season not even sports rated.

My biggest beef with you is the fact that you knock all the educated buyers who knew where to spend the right money. I bought my car, myself, brand new, and have been paying for it since the beginning. Not once have I felt my money was let to be in the wrong place. Most people will probably tell you truthfully as far as dollar to performance goes. Mine is no laughing matter. Truthfully, I dont know how you got your car, handmedown or not. Bashing peoples cars for the sake that they have purchased a potentially better car is rediculous and childish. While were at it who wants to go back to 1996 and make fun of all the civics. Dont be like that people will like you less than they already do.

And for future sake, dont compare a throttle happy econobx to a lux purpose slushbox.

No, I really didn't, I just said I don't care for it. And show me where in this thread I bashed anyone for choosing a WRX.

Wait, the Subaru is now considered a luxury car? I'm so lost.

And going into the "well I bought the better car" is certainly relative to your needs. Performance...probably. But who said everyone wants that?

I mean, obviously most do, but there are different ways to do it.

WRX= good car. STi= great car. Luxury? No. But you could be talking about the Saab, and then i'd have been completely confused and i'll just bow out lol..

Yeah I'm lost, I have no idea what he was trying to either.

And I just to prove I'm not a saab "elitist" I once drove a I think 88 civic. This was the bottom of the barrel, the only power it had was power brakes, not even power steering. Honestly I loved it. Yeah, it was slow, but there was a wonderful directness to everything you did. And despite the standard suspension it was light on it's feet, probably cause it weighed as much as a CD.

Honestly, do you think that's possible? How do you judge an overall car without some sort of subjectivity- and thus bias? Like my preferences for comfort and ride could be completely different than yours. Whereas there are solid variables, like perhaps "moddability" and "initial performance" and such, but in order to do the overall car- and especially feel- well, I think thats almost impossible.

But i'd love to see it tried

And I haven't insulted anyone, if thats what you're getting at..at least I hope I didn't. If I did, my apologies.
