to the op, i would of left years ago, especially after his comment.

for under 10 bucks an hour you got to be crazy to go out of your way for a company, unless its something super easy. im in the union and started out at 12 an hour, 3 years later im alittle over 20 and goes up every year until 2 more years ill be just under 40 an hour plus benefits and pension

i really hate my job but after seeing **** like this, and people getting out of college with loans, no job or ****ty jobs, makes me feel good about what i have

Get out of this business while you can, I've had my degree for over a year, I've been applying like crazy, the auto business is a terrible reference for a job unless you're going for another auto business, lol. I've been at my dealer for 6 years, I'm in the same boat your in, and I'm union and still don't get my raises, they found a loophole to keep people as new hirees under the union contract forever even though they've hired people after me. Just run, if you find a place that is decent go for it, don't drive yourself nuts its not worth it, its not going to get better, I promise you. If you do decide to stay in the auto business find a place that will appreciate you, there are people that are just looking for a hardworking employee and they'll treat ya right, ya just need to look around. I'm sadly in a bad spot because I'm trying to move and I'm getting married shortly so my options are very limited. But you seem to have some time, get yourself out there, I'm sure you'll find somewhere that will appreciate your experience, and pay ya better for it.

Any company that has treated me like that I basically dicked off until I almost got fired and left on my own. I know I'm young and expendable but I don't take that treatment from anyone.

My last full time job they promised me a raise for like 3-4 months and kept saying it would come in the next check and it never did. I basically wasted as much time as I could on the job and even when I ran out took an extra 30 mins to an hour to myself. I don't suggest doing this lol but if they didn't care about giving me a $1 raise which is all I asked for and was promised then I didn't care about giving them my all.

Yeah, Id do what I have to do to get your money out of them. Milk THE SH!T out of that clock, and give them BARE MINIMUM performance. Youve tried to do things the mature way.. going through the process of trying to get a raise. They shot you down. So stop busting your hump for a company that doesnt give a **** about you. Show up on time, do the minimum amount of work you can without getting yelled at, and bounce when your shift is over, on the button.

****, if youve got computer access at work, Id try to "multi-task." Find a way to make money WHILE youre at work. For me, that means listing all my parts for sale while at work. If you can make a sale during work hours, youre killing three birds with one stone: Making money with your regular rate, making money by selling parts, and sticking it to the boss by effing off while youre working. Hes paying you to sell your parts, or otherwise dick off. If Im pissed at my job, I consider that time as "compensation." If Im being screwed by my job and I know it, and they know it, and Ive made an effort to change it with no success, I'm gonna put in the exact amount of effort I feel im being paid. I know what Im worth as an employee- if youre not willing to pay it, thats fine, but youre only getting as much effort from me as you pay for. $8.25 an hour gets you 40% effort from me. Pay me $20/hr and youll see exactly why Im worth that.

Its an employee's responsibility to prove themselves when getting hired. They have to show the employer why theyre worth what theyre being paid. When you show that youre worth MORE than what theyre paying you and they refuse to give you a raise, you HAVE to lower the quality of the work to a level that reflects your compensation.

Finally someone who agrees with me.

Wow....4 years without a raise at any job is ridiculous. If you're not getting some kind of raise / promotion at least every 2 years....you need to find a new job.

I have been sending out my resume to a lot of places. I'm just going to stick it out for now and, like Ken said, do the bare minimum to get by until something better comes along.
