You can't seriously believe that? Of course it's going to look like crap because kids will be comparing it to brand new technology.

^ according to some, you would not then be a man.

This is what I mean. How come nobody ever hears of stay-at-home dad's anytime before like 10-20 years ago?

Why can't a man and a woman just SHARE ALL of the 'duties' of the household -- supporting and maintaining it? Why does it have to be so black and white?

What's wrong with the husband and wife BOTH doing laundry, mowing the lawn, cooking dinner, playing with the kids, fixing things around the house, blah-blah?

For Christ's sake, I don't even HAVE any kids, but I live in a house where the gender lines are blurred. We both work -- and I have school on top of it. We both do yardwork. We both do laundry. We both fix things around the house. We both cook meals. We both go grocery shopping. We both work on the cars. And to be blunt -- it's pretty ****ing awesome.

but you don't have a kid. Add a kid to that equation and see just how "****ing awesome" life becomes. You won't have the time to do much at all, ever. You will both be at work, and the kid will be at daycare? I couldn't trust some random stranger taking care of my child before he's 5 years old and ready for school.

Well, lemme tell you how the male breadwinner and housewife situation worked out for my parents.. My mom was a stay at home mom her entire married life. My dad always worked his ass off, made decent money. My mom was around to raise my sister and I. Then my dad's former boss ruined his life, and they lost their house, and both of them are miserable and do nothing but fight. The only reason they're still together is because they can't survive on their own. My mother is too sick to work and my father is too old and no one wants to hire him. Watching their lives fall apart for the last 3 years has made me never want to end up in a situation like theirs... so maybe I'm biased.

What a fun thread. As I read through the "serious" comments and some of the serious comments on that website, I think to myself look at all these problems.

At work, when a problem arises, some people like to sit around and assert blame and go on wasting time while others want to come up with a solution.

Simple answer, if people don't respect each other and know their place, America will never work. So, there it is, respect it each and work together and you may actually enjoy the results.

I don't necessarily mean on a grand scale but rather start small(everyday lives) and work your way up.

I'm not for either side of the argument as in "Ohh my woman needs to be in the kitchen" or "Ohh I need to bend over backwards for my woman and let her wear the pants in the relationship"

Instead, speaking from an animal behavior point of view, women want to be treated as the woman in terms of being put in there place by the man. This may sound harsh but womens' nature is to have one strong male. This DOESN'T mean beat her or punish her or whatever else but rather guide her as she wants to be. This also means that a man must be just that. However, a man's place is once again not meant to beat a woman or necessarily impregnant her but rather to guide her as she guides him.

Think of it this way, all the mechanical parts that make your car move(from the motor to the trans to the wheels) are woman and man.... if the parts don't work together... the car won't move.
