thanks man

i manually shot it, im the shadow in the bottom left. it was kind of a spur of the moment type deal.

it actually helped that the d90, doesnt rapid fire any quicker than 4.5 fps, this is literally every shot i took, so no clones, just layered all 8-9 them on top of each other and after about 30-40 min of editing, i got this.

thanks again.

Sorry for this newbie question but what do you mean by stopping it down?

so for example, if you have a lens that has a maximum of a F2.8 aperature, stopping down would be setting the camera to something like F3.5 or higher, this deepens the focal field, but lets in less light, so you have to compensate by slowing the shutter speed a bit or raising your iso.

if you have a hotshoe flash, try to bounce it off the ceiling or a wall behind you for softer light, but if your using the build in flash, diffuse it by covering it with a piece of paper or something. Less light will come through, thus making it softer and more appealing.

Yes ettl is basically the camera setting the flash to have enough light for the aperture mostly works but can sometimes be a bit off with the zoom you have the flash set to or just the unit itself, Like ^ said i would deff try bouncing it, the ceiling is my favorite. Also I am not sure what your flash will do but if im not mistaken the Nikon SB600 I use allot will up the power to supply more light.

there is some quick equation but I cant remember what the rule is called but basically light only travels haft the distance so for example you take a step back you would need to boost the light by atleast 2x as much to get the same result. in this case you might also be too close for that light setting.

You can't really post an image in a thread and say "NWS" for the post, because you won't see the post until you've already opened it. I'd recommend removing it from the thread and starting a different thread with an NWS tag if you must. I opened this at work to see a "NWS" post in a non-NWS thread.

Picked up my Sony A200 after many months of not touching it. I was reminded why I was pissed off at it and why I long stopped taking photos (I wont get into it). It did feel good to get behind the lens and snap again though. I'll probably be ordering a new camera this weekend.

Good shot. I think if you adjusted the white balance and maybe some over saturation to make the plastics/shirt/pants pop, it would look great.

I don't ever do selective coloring, but I like it on this shot, particularly because the background is full of ugly telephone lines and blown out tree branches.

Jspek, do you use filters to get that dark urban look you usually have in your photos? Or is that all post processing?

I was about to post my macro lens up on TST since I hadnt used it in a year...but now I'm thinking I might want to play around with it a little first.

Wow, what a world of difference. I really need to spend some time really learning post processing. I'm still very weak at it.
