as long as US oil companies were the ONLY one's allowed to drill there and that the oil retrieved from those spots would be either sold or stock piled on US soil should this be allowed.

selling it over seas or allowing foreign companies to drill would be horrible.

it's more geared towards the US being less dependent/independent when it comes to oil so logically it should be that way, but who knows

the government is not logical

businesses will find a way to sell the oil over seas or sub contract to foreign companies for drilling.

the entire thing should stay american... from building the platforms, to running them

Well, IMO, american companies like Exxon and Sunoco drilling and selling the oil overseas to offset the price wouldn't be a bad idea, but the main importers would be China, Russia or USA since those are the main users. We would still need to upgrade refinery capacity, though. On top of drilling for oil they would be drilling for natural gas and I am also guessing geo thermal.
