I'm down for that! I'll still give you the beer but could I do the work while you just tell me how to do it? (that's a great deal btw lol) I really want to learn how to do this on my own.

And yeah, you're right, I should just buy a 1,000. Can't find any brass casing ammo anywhere though. If you can give me some links, I'll be happy to buy some tonight.

As for the install tools, I think I need brass punches? Are there sites where I can obtain all of these tools without spending an arm and a leg?

.40 ammo is not hard to find at the moment....

dont need to be brass punches...i bought a kit for the ar15 from brownells it was like 12 bucks shipped and theyre not brass..

bolt catch punch from brownells like 14 bucks
pivot pin installation tool like 6 bucks from brownells
spanner wrench is like 8-15 bucks

a good vise would be nice with an ar15 block but not needed

if you want you can come by my place when i do a few of my lowers and i can walk you through it...

Dave doesnt believe me but it takes me about 30-45 mins per lower

I have laid low for awhile but my gun addiction has not stopped and have a couple cool toys nowadays

anyone want to work out a deal for a rem 700 i have quite few stripped lowers laying around or build one out i could add to a trade

Im hooked on distance shooting now

Well I was referring to .223/5.56 lol

I think I might pick up my own tools just so that if I need to work on it later on my own, I wouldn't have to rely on borrowing them. Would def be open to working on it with you though. Only problem is that I'm taking 7 classes right now and it will be very difficult to get away from State College before the end of the semester. Any chance you would want to come out here? Feel free to bring the girlfriend too then the three of us could go to the range!

Not to screw Steve out of a case of beer, but if you're half competent and can follow directions (and have Steve handy to answer a dumb question) it is really simple, and the pivot pin was the easiest part of the whole thing for me.

Come on dave do you think id really take a case of beer haha (i dont drink)

But really Brian its straight forward as ****...dave got lucky with the pivot pin for sure as its usually the trickiest part for most people and where people typically loose a spring across the room (I know ive had a detent go flying before)

you can work on a car you can work on a lower...with the right tools...taping up your lower, and some time anyone could do it

Nice!

I'm looking up those tools and they are either all gone or are insanely priced... looks like I may just need to borrow tools from a local gun guy or wait until I come back to Bethlehem to put this thing together..

Just buy a punch set, and a roll pin holder if you wanna go "crazy", It can be done with one punch from lowes, a box cutter, and a vice.

I was on Brownells and saw a buttstock wrench for $79... Maybe it's because I'm new to this but that just seems like a lot of money for what it does.

*Edit- and before you rip on me again, I was only on the one site last night. Finding time to do a lot of research is tough with all of my school work. I was just surprised to see something that expensive when everything Steve posted about was no where near that price. Thanks for the link though, I think I"ll pick up that brass punch set.
