I'm all for slammed cars, proper fitment, clean, simple, etc. Eventually though, it just gets boring. Every VW that gets posted lately is exactly the same thing-- the same degree of f/r camber, same offset, same ride height. I'd be all for it if maybe there was some deviating quality; but the only mere difference is color theme.

Doesn't this get boring to anyone? It's all the same, they don't share any unique qualities. I guess I was probably put over the edge because I think the picture above sums up everything I've gathered about the current trend with those GTI's-- you put on bags, you get great fitment, you do your one professional-quality photoshoot, and then you've exercised all the fun of the car. Maybe I'm getting old and left in the past but it seems like the only payout of doing these cars is to take one picture to post on the internet.

I'm sure I'll probably catch a lot of flack for that, especially with the picture I'm about to follow it up with, but am somewhat antagonizing and somewhat looking for a response because I really don't get it. Slammed/proper fitment cars are more appealing to look at, but it's not the lone factor for my intrigue with cars.

I started to notice that patern as well. Like I want to do things with my car that at least no one around me is doing. All my friends pray to their NA gods,so i went and turbo'd my car(and not the right way,i went with a cxracing kit when they were still just an ebay company) and got a lot of **** for it. But i loved that car with everything else i had because i did things the way i wanted. not copying the trend.

Basically what im saying is yes it looks appealing, but once you've seen it 10 times dont you think it gets old?
(Same with the drift bumper zip tied 240s,slammed hondas etc.

Wont hear any flack from me... What I love most about Dan's car is that he does it very well. So many are very close, but his is just a notch cleaner/ better. It's a very well polished car and he's gotten a few magazine features with it. Is it anything over the top? No. It's more like the refined epitome of a traditional mkv GTI.

I could see how it would get very boring to a non-vw guy and vw guys alike.. but think of it as showing up to a Ferrari show. The majority of the cars look 100% identical save for the color.

Moar Porsches.. (seems like a lot of 964's and 930's that are set pretty low.)

Exactly. It's cool to see exotic cars but generally after seeing one, it's kind of lame or the same deal unless you get to drive or it's doing something cool. And in the same sense, I feel that the VW's being shown lately are almost as if I'm staring at a dealership parking lot-- it's such commonplace to bag, RS, and color match that it looks like a factory option.

It's not the car that drove me through the wall, it was the photo. Pretty car, definitely see how it looks cleaner than some; but still, it's the same thing.

More of the teal 930.

If I got a 930, it would have to be a slant nose..

Although I prefer the way the 993's drive.. Unfortunately the price on them seems to be hanging high for low mileage ones.

i was looking at 993s before i bought my lotus and i went with the lotus cause the porsche prices are still so strong. a well maintained lower mileage 993 goes for the same money as a 996. but i would burn down entire cities to get my hands on a rauh welt porsche

I catch the sarcasm but regardless, it just really depends what you are into. Thankfully we all have different tastes and opinions. What you guys don't get with the GTI's/ R32's/ Jetta's that I post are the subtle differences that make one better or different. For me, that's what I enjoy.

There's a guy in my parking garage that has a C63 AMG, a 997 Turbo and a Turbo Cayenne... He caught me one day on the way out and I talked to him for about 10 minutes about my air setup and the AMG wheels. Sure things seem to be internet "played" but in the real world, where of the 4 or 5 bagged GTI's are driving around and non even live in the same state. It's still considered different. Go to a show and that changes, but that's where the subtle differences stand out to those that it matters to.

In the end cars are metal, rubber, oil and gasoline, but to many "gear heads" they are easily personified and cars exist as something more.

Some people like stamps, some people like baseball cards, some like little boys... It's just a matter of what wets your whistle

Anyway.. more slammed porsches!

yeah the "euro" scene has been getting pretty redundant and kids think painting the center of their replica LM's makes them different but in reality it doesnt. it just feeds the conformity monster. btw 930's are my most sought after car, probably gonna be my sunday driver when I get older, in brown.

He's part of stanceworks.. I met him briefly at the "Air Affair" at h20i.

Seems like an overly nice guy.

Speaking of stanceworks.. I'm on the top 100 for 2009, lol. Definitely don't deserve it.
http://www.stanceworks.com/?p=1717

This thing is SWEET... (and a repost)

Another blast from 2009 past.

Question for the "All the GTI's look the same" people..

Was this one of the ones that you were including in the list? if so, you need your eyes examined.
