i bought the clutch and flywheel together... they have 5k miles on them and both were new and always used together. the pressure plate is actually whats pictured there but they should be perfectly broken in for each other since thats how they've always been. toyota actually provides no specs for resurfacing and doesnt recommend it. they recommend spending over $500 on a brand new one with every clutch change.

the clutch is an rps max stage 2 ... uses a stock disc with a heavier duty pressure plate. also using the stock flywheel (not pictured) to avoid the dreaded aftermarket flywheel chatter that comes on when you ditch the stock fw. not too hardcore of a setup, should be fine for now to get the car all sorted out and if i need to step up in the future then i will, we'll see.

Yeah I actually wasnt planning to use this clutch but I couldnt find a cheap enough flywheel with low enough miles that I felt comfortable resurfacing. This setup popped up complete and the clutch should work out alright I think... its rated for like 550 ft. lbs. and I doubt I'll be breaking that any time soon. Maybe once I get things sorted out down the line and turn up the wick, but initially the car will be well below that I think.
Thanks for being my member journal's biggest fan! haha...

Those guys make flywheels and clutch packages for many of the companies you see floating around. Just a heads up - $425 for the flywheel

thats definitely not a dual mass at 12 lbs unless there's a typo though... i wanted to stick with the dual mass to avoid the chatter.
actually honestly i dont think i'd care that much about the chatter but i'm just trying to play it safe and listen to the recommendation of a supra owner with experience who told me its really annoying. we'll see...

car is coming along nicely but that PP looks like it has a lot of little heat spots on it. if it was my car, I'd have all the friction surfaces taken down a couple thousandths so everything has a fresh surface to start with. Its a lot easier to do it now then have to pull everything apart again in a couple thousand miles when the disc is slipping on you.

i thought about that but seemed that the heat was pretty evenly spread out so i didnt think it was an issue. if you know more than me about this (which is likely then hmmm...
i just know its low mileage, i can still see/feel the original machine marks in the PP and FW, so i figured it would grip well together. that and its not recommended to resurface the oem FW so i was trying to avoid it.
do you disagree?

i've never delt with dual mass FW's before so I can't say whether they should or shouldn't be machined. I do know that organic discs need a nice flat surface to bed into. the heat will warp surface and make it uneven giving the disc less area to grab and eventually it'll start to slip. if you where running a copper disc with a really stiff PP I don't think it would matter as much. I wouldn't install an OEM PP, which doesn't have a lot of clamping force, and organic disc without having them machined. its just asking for trouble down the road IMO.

I thought I had pics of my PP but I don't for some reason... I took pics of everything else though. the first time I did the clutch in the z06 the FW looked like this:

discs where in great shape and the car shifted fine and all for a little while, then a couple thousand miles later the clutch was slipping. This is a dual disc clutch capable of holding 700wtq.

after everything was machined down a few .000 it looked brand new again and has been trouble free.

in regards to the supra Dual mass FW you are suppose to get it dry cut which is hard to find. not many machine shops do it.

Engine and trans bolted together, put onto a dolly. Lifted the front of the car nice and high, and rolled the engine/trans right under... smooth as could be. Picked up engine/trans with the hoist, bolted crossmember to engine, then bolted crossmember to car. Done and done. New front coilovers are also on. Strange to have an engine bay thats starting to fill up.
Got a ton done, still have a ton to do. Will she be at the Supra meet at Etown on Nov 14th? Its gonna be close...

Many pictures coming, but not till tomorrow...

And I got all this done tonight even with leaving the garage from 7-12 to pick something up and officially become even more ridiculous.
