but for 12k you can certainly get a stock or lightly modded srt4 that isnt run into the ground. how about a Mazdaspeed? Cobalt SS or T/C is a good car and a good choice. Also a good choice would be to put it towards school like Elliott18t said. An Education will earn you money...cars will take your money and never give it back.

In your price range, you could probably find a a clean, unmolested DSM. I'd kill for a '99 GSX. There's still some out there with low enough miles. Find the right one, and it will be a reliable car.

it will be the biggest mistake you ever made to write off wrxs because of their looks.
They will be 100% better in every way (except maybe gas mileage) than any other car you're considering. Plus you get AWD for the winter. I thought the bugeye model was one of the ugliest cars on the road when they first came out, but after driving a friend's wrx I knew it would be the next car I bought. I got 4 trouble-free years and 130K+ miles out of that car and as far as I know it's still being daily driven by the kid I sold it to last year. I loved that wrx so much I bought an STi to replace it.

ok heres the deal... ALL cars are crap, they all break down, every company has its quirks... most of all it depends on who owns it and how they maintain them...
ppl beat on their cars no matter their age, i was at beaver springs last yr and an 85yr old man one a trophy for best showing in his dd sti... my only advice is no subarus and no volkswagons

RSX Type-S
Leave it stock and it will run forever... I want one as a daily and might just buy one after the deuce40 gets rebuilt and sold and start doing side projects.

I like the way the bugeye looks, i wouldn't call it ugly, it definately stands out though (i'm a little biased haha). They're great, very reliable, awd cars.

youre not going to find a car with a warranty.
sell the fiero i cant imagine anyone paying 4k for a 98 v6 firebird/camaro or for that mattter any 199x chevy toiletbox. but i hope that works out for you. i case you havent noticed, tst is all wrx fanbois. but in this case they are absolutely right about a wrx for you. just sayin. my secodn vote goes to a rsx, and id hardly call that a luxury model, considering the new civic is a nicer car. rsx is more fun though. as for rwd in the wintertime.. save for the snow philly got this year (ridiculous) you guys dont see **** for snow. all seasons, or more ideally dedicated snow tires are your friend.

Just get a supra...haha no but seriously i think a wrx would be a solid investment. Its good economically and would last you for a long, long time. Plus if you ever wanted to put money into to it, it would be quite simple. However, if you want my opinion on the cars you mentioned above, go for the cobalt, i always kinda sorta liked them haha.

[QUOTE=jpalamar;1707501]I drive my GTO in the winter. There is a thing called All-Season tires(Conti DWS about $135 each) that actually work great since the GTO is so heavy. I actually preferred my GTO in bad weather over my DSM beater. And you can find an 04 with under 50k miles easy for $10-12k.
I'm gonna have to disagree with this man. My GTO will handle a dusting an that's about it an even then 1st an 2nd will just slip with any hint of gas. I don't think I drove mine in anything more then a inch cause it wouldn't go anyway. Though the pricing is about right I've found better deals with F-bodys I was looking at a 00 Ws6 with only 12k on it for 14g's.
