Im not sure what kind of research your doing or where your getting your information but what your reading is making you just dumber.
Heres an example, Quote:
To do your build right you better plan on spending $40,000+. If you just plan on dropping a motor in the car and having all that power with no suspension, bushings, ect your gonna have other problems. And maintence on a car like that? you better be prepared for things to break and have the money to fix them. Especially if you go the route you wanna go and essetially "ghetto rig" the car and cut corners here and there. If your looking for a local shop to do your build look at either Area 1320 or Rallispec. Rallispec builds fully built longblocks like what you would need on a weekly basis. sleeves, headwork ect. But you better take the number you "planned" on spending for your build and tripple it. I recently had a longblock built with a whole new turbo setup and supporting mods and can tell you first hand you will run into issues, and more often then you think. -Gary

this was a route that i was looking at b4 and was advised against it. I now have a goal for at least 400whp with a gt3076r and forged internals. 400whp is a great number for a moderatly light awd car. Just make sure your ready for all the difficulties that go with making a car like this. Drivability, realiability, and any "ility" pretty much will be gone even if its done right. And cutting corners on a build like this says bad idea all over it. but my 0.02

It depends on what you want. If you really have your mind set on drag racing it then ok the more power the better I guess. But if you're planning on daily driving it you really don't need tons of power to have a lot of fun. And even if you're planning on maybe taking it to a road course I'd focus more on the set up of the car and usable power.

Hence why my end goal for my car is no more than a bit over 400whp while i use it on the street. I want to keep it what it is and keep it fun. So as I said in my last post, if u do go for 500+whp u should probly not even insure it. Keep it a track car for the strip and get urself another car to DD. (unless u want to do some very illegal things on the highway, but that is all a 500whp+ impreza is good for on the street) |

it seems to me in general that alot of people put far too much emphasis on making big numbers and not enough on having the car be the best drive it can be. Ive said it before, a stock miata is more fun than a 1000hp Supra overall. alot of people need to learn that and stop being mindless idiots. (doesnt really apply if ur drag racing im talking about on the road) |

To say he will crash the car if he makes 500+ is retarded. You can drive the car as if it has 275hp. It defeats the purpose of the build to a certain point, but it doesn't mean you can't use the full potential of the car whether it be on he street/track. Not to mention, if you don't drive it with 500hp all the time than it will obviously "preserve" the car also.
1000hp supra>stock miata.......

Ok i realize 500whp is alot i have ridden in a 2008 sti that is stage 2 and driven it once or twice for inspection and other things and i know thats fast i guess i dont realize how fast a gc is with 300hp or even 400hp i think thats the main issue that im looking for so much horsepower and all the high horsepower cars i have driven in are heavy cars compared too 400 hp in my car will be just as fast as them if not alot faster. I think thats were im thinking of my number you guys who have swapped them and have that number and how i have number being a complete difference.
I think the best bet for me is too do my build of what im doing and even if its capable for the amount i want (500hp) idk if im going too go that high if the car is fast enough for me im not going too run it at max power. I do realize what you guys are saying on how it wont be reliable at like 600whp from the cylinders walking and stuff. I guess here is really the final question what do you think of my parts list for this build? im looking too daily this car even though i dont drive much at school and when i do go home too work i drive maybe 5 miles or so. but i would like it too maybe run in the 10 second area on the track? is this possible? I think this is a better question then what i originally asked And the suspension is already done i have BC colovers, whiteline sways front and back, endlinks and busching, and looking at adjustable lateral links and a H brace. |

The 20G is a pea shooter compared to a 35r... maybe a TT 20G would compare to a single 35r car
TD04, VF39, VF30/34, 16G, 18G, 20G, Green, 30r, 35r... in that order with plenty of other turbos that I could have listed but didnt. I'm glad you're considering our advice subi... there are a lot of guys on here who have experience with a lot of different mod configurations on STi motors and we're just trying to help out by sharing our experience. I know I'd personally rather have 350 whp that comes on at 3000 rpm than 500 whp that comes on at 6000 rpm... but everyone has a different preference.

yea i think i was just looking at the build the wrong way you guys got me too look at it the right way im thinking of the gt35r and a little bigger. the perfect spot for me too hit boost would be about 4500 or so just because i am building the heads too rev out to about 7500 or a little more kinda like ej20g heads so i want the turbo too be able to hold boost through high rpms.
