I couldnt agree more... I found a VERY nice MINT 08 135I with Idrive, black leather, pearl white paint... 20k something miles for 25k... I was almost ready to drive over and throw the VR for trade in.. It sucks that I have to pay off a bike now and finish the honda.. Unless I get a good offer for it as is lol

15% of my monthly take home after 401k, benefits, etc is 400 bucks a month.. it really shouldnt be a problem, but its insurance that I'm worried about. I dont know if full coverage is different on a new vs used car, but I was quoted like 400 a month for full coverage on the VR4.. its like gtfo..

I have full coverage on the Ducati and its cheap though... 80 a month and I got the bike and insurance before I even had a damn leaners permit for the thing lol

To what Fujito said about paint. Mitsu paint is thin but smooth. Bmw paint has flaws it seems. I saw a new M3 at Daniels in Allentown with serious orange peel. On a new M3. Wtf? Did a 10 year old paint it?

Fastest track time, yeah. Slowest 1/4 mile though. You can't launch it. The SST dual clutch transmission is awesome, but a very expensive fix. The MR is a lot more expensive to mod because you have to upgrade all the SST components, and if it breaks it's going to cost $8,000 to replace.

Really? That's unfortunate. I just usually think high end car brands generally apply more coats and chip resistant. The Evo's paint isn't as bad as my 07 Civic's was, but it still chips relatively easily.

Financial experts recommend spending no more 12 to 15% of your after-tax monthly income for car payments. To calculate how much car you can afford, multiply your monthly net pay (take-home pay after taxes are deducted) times 15% (.15). Your car payment should not exceed this general guideline.

back when i was a broke college student buying a new honda civic was a stupid mistake i learned from. I paid it off and drove it for three more years without payments and saved all the money working to do other stuff.
but you gotta be careful when you do that. cause my payment went from about 10% to 30% when i lost my job. i never fully recovered from that (still not making what i was and this was almost 4 years ago) and ended up losing my car and my bike to pay off all my debt.

The 135's are nice and quick, but every time I see one they just look so/too small... Up close they look great... on the road, they look tiny... It's weird, every time I see one on the road it's like they're shrinking. You ever look/sit in the back seat? There really isnt one. Plus, there's some guy that I see almost every morning driving to work on Broad St. that's debadged and replaced with an //M emblem (bleh). I would go for a used 335i or xi instead. That's got a bigger pimp factor, bigger, similar power, real back seats. That's a car I'd buy and keep for good.

have you been in either car?...the space in the back of the 335i is basically exactly the same as the 135i...it's close enough that I wouldn't call it a real back seat.

and as for them looking small, uh yeah...because they're supposed to be a smaller looking more performance oriented car while keeping the BMW quality about it, hence it being a 1 series and not 3 series

I'm gonna go look at an 06 330i that I've been eyeing for the last couple weeks today. I've set specific limits for monthly payments and such. I got them down to 20k and it's got 57k miles, however it's a CPO and has a 6year/100k bumper to bumper courtesy of BMW. If I can get it at a decent used car interest rate, and payments at or below $250/month, then it's a deal. I've got about $2500 worth of Focus parts I would sell off and put straight to the bimmer. Also the BMW would be $100 cheaper a year to insure than my Focus. I've got Nationwide and I'm two weeks short of 26 with a clean record.

The CPO warranty is NOT comparable to the include-all-warranty that a new BMW has.

A BMW out of warranty like that is not an easy sell.

Both cars are very nice and have alot of potential. I say don't worry about what everyone else thinks, get what makes YOU happy.

idk what it is, but the 135 just has this "cute" look to it that i just dont really like for a performance car. I mean yea its fast and nice and all, but i cant see it ever looking "badass" like many of the 335s do.

and the evo has more easy potential and mods cost like half what they do for the bimmer.

I would choose the evo over the 135,,, mainly cause the 135 looks like a girls car, its CUTE,,,, I dont care how fast it is or not,, its like driving a VW cabrio... but I would chose a 335 over an evo... 335 is grown up, classy, high class looks with the speed you need.. My buddy in Ne Philly has a 08 335 4dr for sale.. Its got staggered 19s, lowered, front lip, that dark gunmetal color, no dings, or dent, nothing wrong with his car, just getting married with a kid and just bought a house and wants a minivan now,, yes,, a 335 to a honda odyssey.. I think his car got only 13k on it and he wants $36,995 only,, his car is loaded, hid, leather, roof, navi, etc.... He's located in NE Philly.

why?

i could have bought a 135i with ease, but bought the Evo because its a better performance car and easier/cheaper to modify. Plus, it looks a lot more badass.

Not to mention the cost of maintenance on the BMW outside of its great warranty is ridiculous.
