like i said, i can keep up with traffic, as long as they dont break the law going above the speed limit, even if they are speeding, 75 percent of the time they hit a red light anyway, while i gracefully ride right past them through the red light. and when they are going faster than me im courteous enough to give them space to pass me.

lol at saying a bus isnt green because you can visually see exhaust particles, when they produce less pollution than gas, not only that 1 bus probably takes 40 cars off the road, and if there were 40 extra cars per bus on the road the city would be gridlocked and people would just sit in traffic and pollute even more. if you drove down the city a couple weeks ago you would know.

As for people crossing at red lights they're not hurting anyone but theirselves.
most bike riders who blow through red lights do it because they dont want to lose momentum, they are 1000x more aware than car drivers because they are constantly looking around for the oppurtunity to get through the red light safely, they arent going to blindly go through a light causing a car to slam on their brakes and cause a pile up, or take a huge risk of getting clipped by someone driving a 4000 pound peice of steel.

i think most of the bicycle hate comes from the suburbs when people have to slow down to pass a group of road cyclists going 25 when the speed limit is 40-55.

when im riding i never get in the way of a car unless i know they are going to catch a red light.

riding a bike through a red light is no different than crossing the street when it says do not cross. bikes are pretty much doing the same thing, and if there is an opportunity to cross the road when it says do not cross, i dont know anyone who wouldnt.

you make debating easy. so if im driving my car out of state, i dont have privileges because im not a tax payer, what if a tourist from japan visited central park, do they have to pay a fee to enter?

like someone said earlier, most bike riders have cars.

the thing is, like i said before bike riders are way more aware than most car drivers. just like motorcycles, bike riders get hurt more by cars not paying attention, than the actually bike or motorcycle riding wreckless. if a bike rider gets killed because they decided to blow a red light, no sympathy, but if a car swerves into a bike or rear ends a bike, **** the motorist.

i even seen and had a someone swing their car door open without bothering to check if anything coming, and i was in the bike lane slamming on my brakes. im sure they didnt learn a lesson, but if a delivery truck ripped their door off im sure it would be the last time that would happen to them.

and of course no one would even stop for a officer, just like they made licenses plates for quads, i never put one on and i sure as hell never stopped. sure if cops were stopping people while they were just hanging out and ask for registeration id consider getting one, but id never put a license plate on my bike just for the fact that i wouldnt want to expose my plate number while breaking the law.

i think half the reason people are hating on bikes is because they dont ride one, im sure if they rode one they would understand where cyclists are coming from. if i had to commute on bike and had to stop every few minutes id be exhausted, and late.

Two bills will be introduced into City Council on Thursday Councilman DiCicco will be introducing a bill would require registration of all bicycles owned by persons 12 and older. Councilman Kenney's bill will raise the fines of sidewalk riding from $50 (which was already raised from $10 in June), and for wearing headphones from $50-$100 dollars to $100-$300 and for bicyclists without brakes face a $1000 fine or confiscation of the bike.
ill agree on the sidewalk fine, maybe cars will stop yelling out the window telling me to get on the sidewalk.
the headphone thing is a grey area, i see alot of motorist wearing headphones and i doubt they get any **** for it, and whats the difference if your deaf?
i think the no brakes thing is fair, thats going to piss alot of people off, and i think the 1000 dollar fine is absolutely ridiculous, but its probably the only way to enforce it.

but i think also brakeless riders are even more aware than anyone on the road

I think the brakeless fine is retarded. That being said, i also think that people who ride bikes without brakes are retarded. Most of them do it as part of an "image" of a biker. I have several friends who ride as messengers in the city and they all convey the same thought process.
The headphones fine is dumb as well. Whats the difference between having the radio cranked in you car, having a chatterbox w/mp3's in your moto helmet and wearing headphones on a bike?

brakeless is cool if you want knee problems when your 40.

i honestly dont remember the last time i see someone riding a bike with headphones, but it was only last friday when i seen some lady driving her car with headphones, in fact i can recall atleast 6 times seeing someone with head phones while driving, but maybe because that is out of the ordinary.

i have 4 back to back posts with tons of stuff said, im waiting for someone to try and have a say.

Getting smoked out by a bus in Philthadelphia is all Clint's fault.

Public transportation is the most environmentally friendly option out there (when walking/biking is not an option of course). A lot of their buses are Diesel (cleaner emissions than gas), 460 of their buses are hybrids, and subways/trains are one of the most efficient methods of travel. I don't know what else you could ask for.

The only time I ride with headphones is when I'm in the woods on my XC training loop.

On the road, though... that's just too damn risky.

Wow thats stupid.

What are they going to do about kids.

Also when I was younger I had a new bike every few months so that would be a bitch having to switch all the time.
