I see what you guys are saying about "building a nasty ass car for $100k".... but who knows.

My 1991 MR2 with a tiny 4 cylinder < 275whp car weights 3020.... this car with TWICE the power FROM THE FACTORY, weighs only 200lbs more... think about it.

Again, not saying this car is god, or trying to be a fan boy... I'm ready to see what this thing can do on the track.

ah nevermind lol... who am I kidding, no matter what the public will have something to say. I'm just a broken record at this point.
I am on your side ;)

So what? Doesn't mean that people that actually have the money would want to spend what they believe to be 250K more than they should? It's like if Honda would have priced the scratched V10 NSX at 400K. It really just isn't worth that much to most people who will rather put the money into a prestigious car name rather than a Lexus or Acura or GM or whatever.

You can put carbon brakes and 500hp into a Civic but you can't sell it for 130K. Just what I think.

/sarcasm

I'm split with the car. I guess I expected too much from it.

Can I ask what you expected? I mean, I knew NOTHING about this car until I clicked the link in the first post, so maybe I'm missing some build up that others (including yourself?) have read? I dunno.

Well, Lamborghini put some crazy bodywork on a "regular" Murceilago, added 700,000 to the price and called it a Reventon. They sold out before the car was even commissioned.

The Ford GT is an interesting case too. Original msrp was about 120k. Ford feared they would alienate customers and the car would flop with a higher price tag, even though it performs as well as, if not better than many, more expensive exotics. When they arrived at dealerships, customer interest pushed the price up another 100k, and they still sold.

So can Lexus sell an amazing performing exotic for 400k? Yep. If the car is crap they would have trouble, but they did their homework. They had test mules as early as 2004. It's been around the Nurburgring 100s, maybe 1000s of times. You better believe for 400k and 6 years in the making this car will be great....and it's mad JDM, yo.

I've seen concepts of this car for many many years. And they always displayed it at pebble beach where the right people did take a high interest in it. They will easily sell all 500 coups and all 300-500 verts they will build. It's an exclusive car with huge quality. It has what is basically an F1 V10 in it. It sounds ill. It's very pretty. It's a solid supercar/GT. And will compete well with the Ferrari 458, mclaren 12C, Aston DBS, gallardo, sls amg, etc. 400k seems high but depending on how the press recieves it, that price could go up due to demand pull inflation like most of these supercars do.

And make no mistake, Toyota developed this chassis for the next gen supra, the lfa is just it's stunning entrance but I'm almost 100% sure the main purpose for this whole chassis is for the supra reincarnation. Expect it next year. Probly with around 400bhp or so. And I really hope they keep the motor based on the 2jz with some modern tweaks. A v8 would be a mistake.

Each LF-A is going to be custom made to order and the production of all major components were not outsourced.

Another thing about this car that no one has mentioned will be the next step in the Lexus red-carpet dealer experience. When this car has to be serviced the car will be picked up at the customers home in a fully enclosed trailer designed specifically for the car. It will be taken to one of the Lexus regional offices and a select few tech's will only be able to work on them. I believe you also have to own two previous Lexus's to even be considered to purchase one. They had a rolling chassis last time I was at school, it looked pretty insane. 400k is a ton of money though

It's a good thing your opinion doesn't determine prices.

They blended function and form on this one, I think it looks awesome. If it's going to be that expensive, it better look awesome/extreme/different. You clearly have no idea of the value of half the parts on this car to price it at $100k. Not even counting the design aspect of it.

I won't get into this, but I would buy one.
