Here is what I had to deal with at the GM dealer this year. Had to get the battery replaced and an issue with the sensor under the passengers seat.
They did I figure $2000 in damage to my car. Scratched up both leather seats, scratched my car on both sides in the door jams. Broke,or scratched all the plastic interior pieces. Broke and scratch the pieces inside the engine bay. Replaced seats, replaced all the plastic pieces. In the process broke half the plastic parts so they had to replace them again. When repainting the door jams they got paint on the plastic parts and leather seats and repalced them again. In the end I got my car back with many damaged parts still on the car. I got most of the major stuff that is visible fixed. I still have alot of issues but on parts you wouldn't see unless I pointed them out. So I just kind of gave up at that point. In the end the car was still covered with overspray from the painters which I just got around to removing when I detailed the car last week. Boy thinking of this really gets me upset. Car has been in the shop for 3 months this year. So yeah I really do not trust having my car at the sop either LOL |

Regardless of what it may be "traditional" to do at shops, I don't want my car being used to run around in. At my dealership when customers drop off cars to get some kind of work done, we don't use those cars to run to the store, or pick up other customers.
If I wanted someone to joyride my car, I would go to autocross with a co-driver, not to a shop to get work done.

You told him to drive the car. Funny that you complain that they are slow to do work but you are against them combining two tasks into one by driving your car to pick up parts they need. The other option would be for them to work less efficiently and more slowly.
You still never said here if you outlined a timeframe that they agreed to and told you when the car would be done, so I'm assuming that didn't happen. The shop wasn't sitting around with tools in hand waiting for you to pull in to the lot so they could get started on it, they probably have a dozen other cars they're working on and yours gets fit into the schedule like normal. Grimm hit it on the head. You're bitching because you feel like bitching, can't see any other reason for it. Sounds like you should invest in a diary to me.

i guess car customers not so different from computer customers
i get ppl who think their computer is most important and needs to be done right away. next time you should ask when you need them to get to the car. set expectations for job completion id agree that using your car to go get parts is not cool at all. wtf, they dont have their own cars? |

alex i remember a time you were having a problem with your car and i figured out a way to fix your **** for free, remember? and theres nothing wrong with stopping to grab parts while on a road test (as long as they didnt go a rediculous distance out of the way). dude you really need to find yourself a decent mechanic and stick with him

I brought my car in broken, what happened if the guy test driving it went for a long trip to do work errands and the car broke down? Or if it got in an accident miles away from the shop? If I didn't stop by, I wouldn't have even known what they did with my car, but I'm sorry, a nearly 1.5 hour "test drive" of my car to replace my fuel filter is unacceptable in my book.

If you gave your car to a valet and it came back with 10 miles extra on the trip, you'd be pissed too, just as an example. You can go ahead and close this if you like, clearly we share different feelings on people driving our cars around.
