george i feel ya... sometimes when growth is stressed it turns out to be quantity that is a priority, as opposed to quality. the forum has indeed changed, and to look at things in a rosey way is not always possible. i guess we get what we need / want out of it and try to weed thru the bs.

The only problem is not growth...some people realize and see what the other problems are but are too afraid to say anything. But I agree with you George, there is a reason why not many of the old school people show up to the meets. I use to be at the Red Robin, rain or snow.

Tougher mods would be the first step to cleaning it up, Not ones with evAr is there info either.

Also start deleting bump threads, useless posts, off topic and lock stupid threads that make you dumber for reading it.

dont know what the "evAr" thing is in reference to, but otherwise i agree completely. if anyone has suggestions on how to improve the flow of the forum then please dont hesitate to post in the feedback forum. i've got a few ideas i'm looking into right now but believe me this isnt as easy as it might look.

I'm just saying mods should lead by example.

i hope this is a helpful discussion that will remain open and productive.

i think more consistent mods will be the key here... agreed, bad posts should be reported- the mods have enough on their plates, to be tipped off is helpful. however, some just fly off the handle and close a thread while other discussions are allowed to go off topic, which is not always a bad thing.

perhaps this is not the best thread in which to say it, but i feel it needs to be said.

Naw tougher mods are frowned upon by certain other mods. I heard that deleting threads or locking dumb threads is also frowned upon because they are not breaking the "core rules". I don't think it's the moderaters that need to be the first step.

Sandra i find it funny that in the same thread that you are saying tough mods are frowned on while there is a link in this thread where you went totally off topic with a group of memeber...

It's hard to learn anything...especially on this forum. Honestly I come on here to shoot the poop becuase that's all this forum is. I am on here for the people, not for the cars or the meets. As for leaving, it's hard to when your friends are on here. But I have a feeling things will be changing very soon.

one more point worthy of mention before i lull myself to sleep...

itstock, itsnotthateasy. you signed up in september, and i'm not frowning on you because you're new, but you wouldn't possible be able to 'get' what george/blue32 is saying.

i do agree with you though, troll is going to run the forum the way he wants, whether we agree with him or not. if we have problems with that, we have the option of swinging with it, or leaving.

sleepy OUT

OK...I've been quiet for long enough. Since people are speaking their mind, it's time for me to speak mine. One of the biggest issues I have on this forum is the ridiculously incongruous use of censorship, whether it be editing the post by a moderator, or simply deleting it. Come on people...we're grown [thanks for cursing -TROLL] adults here (in most cases). Not to call you out on this Troll...but look at the VERY successful forums (evolutionm.net, VWVortex, audiworld). They have no censorship whatsoever. People speak their mind and that's how it should be. I don't know Troll's reasoning for it...it's not like the FCC is going to fine him for saying "[thanks for cursing -TROLL]" or "[thanks for cursing -TROLL]". Another thing that pisses me off is the complete lack of technical knowledge. This forum seems to be devoted to stalking more so than helping people with a problem they may be having with their car. Hell...for a while it was labelled as...correct me if i'm wrong..."A Place Devoted to tracking down the white Evo chick"...and people wonder why she doesn't post anymore? Some of the people (not mentioning any names, but they know who they are) need to get away from the computer and their posting of useless SSHHIITT and go out and possibly find a girl who doesn't think their clinically insane. OK...so I got a bit off topic. Maybe there should be some solicitation of REAL vendors...like AEM, Schimmel Performance, AWE Tuning, Precision Dyno Tuning, EIP Tuning, (hate to say it, but) TurboTrix...get some real knowledgeable people on here to build up that technical aspect of the site. As it stands...we need more talk about car stuff or else we won't get the vendors to come on the forum. The way I see things going, it's going to become a very large forum with very few meaningful posts that are difficult to find if we don't do this.

As mentioned above, I'd like to clarify, if you use inappropiate language on Audiworld they will religiously delete your post, without any fanfare though. Unless it's marked or posted OT.

Not to correct you or be arguementative but they state that if a curse word is used in an irregular off the handle fashion like oh **** i totalled my car they will let it go.

OK...so I was wrong about 1 of them...EvoM and the others are uncensored...it's kinda like having a forum devoted to truck driver's and censoring that...it's pointless.
