Most scorpions won't kill you. out of like 1500 species only 20 or so are concitered medically signifigant, and even then if you are a healthy adult your chances of dying are slim. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying the others can't put a hurting on you because their is a chance of going into anaphalitic shock (this is the cause of most deaths from scorpion stings in healthy people) but their reputation is quite overstated.

As for emps, to my knowledge their has never been a death caused by one and out of the 20 or so I have had I have only seen 1 even use its stinger. So short of having an allergic reaction after being stung in the neck, I would say no, you can't die from an emperor.

Very nice collection. I know a little about scorpions b/c my friend had 3-6 emperors and I was always into them as a kid. He also had a Boa that I watched grow from 5ft to 12ft. I can't say what kind here. PM me if you want to know. Mice->rats->gerbils/guinea pigs->rabbits and I know I forgot a few...

The only scorps i've handled were the emps, but I know for a fact the 'Zona Barks are deadly.

The Emp's sting is said to feel like a bee sting and, yeah, all scorps glow under UV lighting. A good way to check your room if one is "missing."

Well I don't handle them very often, and most people will tell you not to ever handle them because you really never know what could happen. When I do hold them I will pick them up by the tail close to the stinger (using forceps or my bare hands depending on the species) then place them on my hand, while they are on there the trick is to not make any sudden movements and try to keep them below your elbow by putting your other hand flat on your arm and letting them crawl onto it, this way they don't see you as a threat, they just wonder why the ground is moving .

I park in the back of the lot against the curb. It works well for avoiding door dings but I have already had 2 good size chunks of paint taken off my rear bumper. I think damage in that lot is unavoidable

Do they sell scorpions in regular pet shops or you have to really know where to look?

Saliva and stomach acids are powerful enough to degrade just about anything you swallow. And as long as it isn't absorbed in the mouth or on the way down to the stomach you should be fine. Of course that isn't going to be true for stuff like formaldehyde and other poisons.

You can usually find emperors at most pet shops but if you are looking for other species it can take some work. Just remember just because a pet shop has an animal doesn't mean they know how to care for it so do your own research.

Also Know what you are looking at before you go in the shop, I have seen more aggressive species being sold as emps and have heard of medically signifigant species being sold as a harmless ones. It may not happen often but you really don't want to find that out the hard way
