We'll decide based on how many people confirm the day before. I'm sure that we will not be leaving alex's car at the endpoint, cause that would be as useless as it gets

Not to put an age on myself here, but I remember when the line was active and the freight trains would deliver to Newtown dropping lumber and supplies off at the Frost Watson yard. Ughh I am getting old.

Now I am curious if the bridge over the Neshaminy is still there behind George School. I might have to investigate.

The mule died.

Seriouslym though...It was a freight and also a passenger line, and then New York and Philadelphia came to Bucks County with all their Yup-Yups complaining about the noise of the train that had been running there problem free for 100 years or so. People bought property in Holland and Southampton and built their homes right along the tracks and then complained about noise and safety issues It was shut down in the early 80's in Bucks County, then the Montco followed soon after.

There was talk from Septa ~10 years ago about running it again, but that got shot down really quick. Then Rails to Trails came along with plans that got shot down by residents also. That would have been great to have a nice bicycle connection to the city from here. Oh well, it is all overgrown up this way.

btw according to google maps the george school bridge is still there...I actually would like to go and check it out when it gets a bit warmer since I have no clue how to get there other than by following the tracks.

It's not like we were holding hands and skipping through the woods... that would be gay. Now back on topic. We're still up for next sunday. The trail from Lorimer Park to Huntingdon Pike no longer has rails, but it is fun none the less. There are two bridges on the way and all in all it's about a mile and a half to that point. The trail goes under Huntingdon pike and than deadends at an active railroad...we actually ran into a train there and took a picture. Right after this the rails resume, but are overgrown. It wasn't a problem for me since I was dressed for the occasion, but CN had a bit of trouble keeping the thorns out of his face :-D We got to Fetter Mill Rd and decided not to continue today since my wife was going to kill me.

I don't know where this is but my town has an underground railroad tunnel that runs for a mile and about 10 steps in it is pitch black. Spooky **** if anyone is down for this but I would assume right about now it is like freezing in there since it is damn cold in the summer. So cold and wet in there that there are calcium deposits and such in there. No one really has had the balls to walk all the way through there that I know. Plenty of abandoned track for spring if you guys are interested. I'm about 10 mins from Quakertown and 20 from Montgomeryville.
