You're absolutely right bro, my department is about 2 over from RockledgePD and those guys have a decent amount of equipment. They even have a ****in SUV, which doesn't really bother me since I'd rather drive our Crown Vic's, anyway. I understand how you feel when it comes to being under equipped at work, but it's gotta be tough to outfit 6600 people, especially when the city is full of animals who don't give a ****.

Let me say first my prayers go out to the officers family. Something really has to be done cause the city is out of control when the thugs on street corners are being looked up to and the cops are being looked down upon something is truly wrong. Philly PD really does need to crack down hard on all these so called thugs and claim the respect they truly deserve. R.I.P.

heard about it on the news yesterday, this is a sad day. this has been happening too much recently. my thoughts and prayers are with the families. I'd like to personally thank those who protect and serve, and say I hope to become and officer myself within the next year or so. Stay safe out there!

yeah he had jsut gotten out of jail form i think it was armed robbery or something like that when he assulted 5 officers a few weeks ago, he had been on the run since when The officer had spotted him and called in back-up. He used a semi auto .45 cal.. They got the car but not the female according to the news.. I would take Matt's word over the news anyways , but according to the news he had a previous record was wasn't but 3 days out of jail when he assaulted some officers about a month ago.

Apparently 6 yrs on the one charge and another 4 for prison misconduct weren't enough to straighten the guy out before his release date...

I can understand your thinking...anybody who kills another person should be sent to death row..but when you are running away from the guys with the guns...we're running to them..special treatment is the last thing on our (cops) mind. YOUR SAFETY IS. And on another note. If you are willing to go after a police officer then whats to stop them IN THEIR MINDS from going after..women..children..the elderly.......Someone like that is a very very dangerous person.

I think there is a lot of validity to this statement. Law Enforcement is basically our last line of defense, and if someone is going to try and take them out, then what’s to stop them from shooting anyone that looks at them cross-eyed? It’s an animalistic behavior, survival of the fittest, which separates these people from a human being.

I also think that when the community blames the police they are encouraging these animals to go even further. This guy lies in the street and his family and community are screaming that he was a Muslim and the police are to blame? I really wish we could take all of these people and put them behind a wall and let them police themselves. We'll see how long they want to stay there.

a fed in my unit ran a few raids looking for this dude prior to the shooting.

its easy to say that the philly pd should go back to the rizo era and start cracking heads. but philly is a liberal miniority town and that **** wont fly. critters will complain about their rights being violated and "da man keepin dem down".
its a critter town.

my supervisor has been on military leave from philly pd for three years and never wants to go back.

true. which is why it needs to happen. not trying to sound racist, but we need to take this city back. and its not about color. most black people i talk to say the same thing. and its the thug piece of **** white people that are the problem too. it just so happens that the most crime ridden neighborhoods are the minority ones. its just statistics.

people really need to stop being afraid and stand up to these people. they're not as bad as they want to be perceived to be. i fight with my heroin dealing neighbors on almost a daily basis while no one else will say anything. i love this city and i pay good money to stay here. theres nowhere else i want to live. my taxes pay for the police, i will defend my investment to the very end. someday ill be working right there with you, matt

Amen. My family grew up in Fishtown and back when my dad was a kid it was all about the neighborhood. People didn't even think about starting trouble because they knew the whole block would be up their ass. It's still funny how my dad asks me questions about some of the trouble makers on my block, and says "Why haven't you taken care of it yet?". Lol. People need to stand up for their own welfare sometimes.
