Nobody has put this together... shame shame. If you're going to South St. and you want a cheesesteak... Jim's Steaks is on 4th and South I think... its the same deal as Pats and Genos... touristy, and yeah, they're all a little overhyped although I do like a good cheesesteak every now and again. But there's no doubt... if you want a 'philly cheesesteak' within walking distance of South St. then look no further than Jim's.

If its packed in there then walk to the very back of the place and you'll find steps leading upstairs to a large seating area. I think a lot of people dont realize its there. Pretty cool to sit by the window and look down on the street traffic though...

If I were you, I'd hit Jims for a steak, Fat Tuesdays for a slushy, tatooed Moms for some chill time, and then Lorenzos to refuel the belly with a big ass slice of pizza. lol

and Jims isnt "within walking distance of south street"...its ON south Street. 4th street & South If i remember correctly.

Awesome! I think you just planned my trip for me. Thanks. The only other thing I really want to do is the Aquarium in Camden. My girlfriend has somehow lived 25 years and never been to one. All of that and picking up my car makes for a perfect little Saturday. LOL

well if u park at penns landing to go to South Street, you can catch the Riverlink Ferry across the river from Penns Landing directly to the Aquarium so you don't have to drive across the bridge and pay for additional parking.

Damn man, there's sooo much to do in philly. If you didn't have the gf with you, I could recommend some nightlife hotspots. Def. hit up South Street, Olde City is pretty cool, Walking around Rittenhouse Sq. is cool to see all the colonial houses that are all done up for some rich bastards, the Soap Box will be fun in Manayunk. The italian market is something to see. You pretty much need a weekend to get in everything.

Sick! Thanks for the info. That doesn't sound like a bad idea. However, we're thinking about just getting a room and staying the night. So I would just park my car at the hotel. But Penns Landing is walking distance from South St. right? So I could still rock a ferry ride.

Any suggestions for a decent, not super high priced, room?

well its not the fanciest place...but since you're lookin at south street and penns landing, there is a Comfort Inn right there across from penn's landing. There a bunch of hotels down there, but the others are high society type places.

It doesn't have to be fancy...by any means. I don't want to spend a ton. Especially since this is kind of plast minute. Just a place to sleep. That's all. Then we can check out what goes on @ night. lol

Penn's Landing itself is a couple blocks long. The heart of it is at Market Street and Deleware Avenue (Columbus Blvd)
