shazam.

this is how I got my foot in the door, and how I'm making mad loot. Lets put it this way, my pay increased, literally, 300% from my previous job to this job.

If you get into programming, let me know. I can hook you up with a technical placement agency

I was going to go up today but Ryan said they were too busy for me. I dunno how I am gonna get a chance to go fill the app out. Today is my only day off.

I talked to your friend Jay, It sounded like a good idea at first except i dont want to get taxed 2 times anymore. Also moving to Holland and commuting to mt. holly everyday is just too far. Not to mention I cant do the traveling thing for training. What I'm trying to accomplish is to put my self in a positon I could be making "great" money and not 23k a year like now.

I'm also I think finished with trying to get job hook ups because they all become just that.. Jobs. I want to get myself into a real career where I will always be in demand and always be important to the company I work for. Not just some workhorse that gets the **** jobs no one wants. I've got experience in more feilds that most people you will meet. Crime scene cleanup, detailing, advertising sales, construction, wherehouse. Ive been alot of places and done alot of things and this is something that I havent tried yet. I was a business and computer major in high school so maybe I should put it to use.

I do not agree that programming is a great field to get into at this point. I do agree that it is an important skill to have to backup yourself, but it can be outsourced...And often is. And when it is not, there isn't a ton of paths you can take. The most common is to program for hours a day and eventually get into project management...why not just get some business experience and go straight into project management?

I am not saying this is the rule by the book, but in my own opinion it is a risky field to enter...And I don't think Keith aspires to be a programmer either...i could be wrong about everything though.

what business experience do you have?

PM me a resume man, I'll see what I can do. I know we've got people coming in as contractors for our "producers" field... which is basically people that are the liaisons between myself (web developer) and the business team (who deals with the clients)

Im really just trying new options, learning new skillsets. Like I said at this point in time, I cant afford to or allow myself to work $10/hr jobs anymore and even with the backround I have that seems to be all Im worth to all the places I put an app or resume into. When I first typed my resume I had 5 pages of work history. I had to break it down just to make it readable. No one wants a novel. And I'm still getting turned down because I have no credentials or degrees. I do like computers so its not something I'm going to lose interest in. I was very into them before I could drive, then I got into cars and girls and forgot them. I think its worth a shot to see where it gets me.

like i said do you play with computers as a hobby? if not i say id steer clear, todays day you must be engulfed in the it field to stand out. you must have a knack for it along with the credentials. not trying to rain on your parade, just trying to help a brotha out. god forbid you go through school then get a job then realize its not for you. then your out x amount of money for school an a job. really take your time and think things through.

jobs sometimes turn into careers, mine did, and if you asked me back then if unloading trucks was what i wanted to do with my life i wouldve laughed at you.

Truthfully Ken the only experience I have as far as business goes is:

1 failed accounting semester

1 marketing semester

2 desktop publishing semesters

2 excel semester

2 microsoft front page semesters

Mous certified back in 2001

and then the 4 months at Montgomery Newspapers....

So I dont think my acutal business classes can really account for much.

The part that he left out is that schooling is being paid for with a college fund from his grandparents. So really, he isnt loosing anything by trying.

thats good, but id still say go for a college degree. as much as i dont have one and make a good living you cant go wrong with a college degree.

any bs degree will get you in just about anywhere these days. i can get ANYONE a job with a bs at my wifes work. she started at 35k and in two years is pushing 60k. 4 weeks paid vacation, unbelievable benefits, and 401k.
