Ive been able to drive some of the tuner style cars at dealerships no problem, but that was mostly the Colbalt SS, Civic Si, VW GTI and R32..... but I also showed a lot of interest in the product, and told them I was doing some shopping around. Some of the sales guys were awesome towards me, others sucked. It really just depended on the place I went to, and who I spoke with

Same here. I'd agree with Totheix's/dustin, it is entirely too subjective at this point. But i've never heard of a predominant opinion either way, and that is simply b/c it is so new.

And 500 is not bad..I'm working on it

It's the salesmans job to pre-screen the "real" potential buyers from the people just looking for S+G's. If they knew you were serious about trading in your Evo for a new one and I was running the joint I would have tossed you the keys in a minute. If you really are serious about trading, definitely go to a different dealer.

I would think this would be something of concern to Mitsu and the dealer. How can you build interest in a product without letting people try out the product? The last few cars I bought all involved 24 hour test drives before I bought one and only one of the test drives resulted in me not buying the car and none of them required a credit check.

The only way this would be acceptable is that if all 5 were pre-ordered and already sold to customers. In that case you shouldn't be allowed to test drive them. Even then, you should have been treated very differently.
Every dealer is different, and even salesman at the same dealer are going to act differently. When I was looking for a car last January, MB of Princeton not only encouraged me to drive the SLK55 on the showroom floor without any hassle, but told me that whenever I decided I wanted to take it out just to call a few hours ahead of time and they'd make sure it was pulled out and ready to go. And this was a 65K car that they get maybe 6 of a year...

Now, when I went up the street to the Porsche dealer, they completely brushed me off, so I figured screw them and I left. Even two other MB dealers in the area weren't as receptive as Princeton, and in the end that's why they made a sale and the others didn't.

my opinion on the whole thing is...im in the car sales business also. thats what u call "pre-qualifying". dude if you like the evo X and ur thinking about trading ur's in and getting one u should. Just dont forget who treated u like a dick with herpes, and when u buy one be sure the GM at the other dealership knows how you were treated and ask him who owns the dealership. Just for the dick move he pulled on you, ive seen other sales guys get fired for that.

It's sad ppl prequalify younger guys like that. Ive had a 18 yr old kid who was still in h.s. come in and buy a s2k straight cash before. You just ran into a jitbag sales guy.

F"YI the X trounces the faster accelerating IX by SECONDS around a road course with the DSG..It just dosent have the power to weight ratio as before in favor of being more refined. Fenders are huge and people are running 10 inch width all around with them already.

That happens all the time. When I was looking to buy an Xterra, I went into Drexel Hill Nissan (The dealership 2-3 miles from my house). I went after work so I was dressed in a dress shirt and pants. I stood around for 20 minutes and was ignored by a few different sales people until I finally left. In the end I purchased the Xterra from Concordville Nissan from the same salesman (Dave P) that I bought my Sentra from. Everyone at Concordville always treats me with respect no matter how young I look or how I'm dressed. You can tell that Concordville is a much nicer place since Drexel Hill Nissan's building looks like a shack!
