Yea, I have the wireless adapter. My console is about 40 feet from my router and about 4 rooms away and it works like a champ. If you're modem is in another room and you're too lazy to run cable to the room where you're going to set up the 360, the $100 for the wireless 360 adapter is well worth it.

I'd also recommend getting the play and charge kit for your wireless controller. Just plug it in for a half hour while you play and its charged. Cheaper than buying packs of AA batteries. It only costs $20.

yea when i was there (at best buy) last night I was trying to tally up everything i would need to be well off from the get go. This was my list as of last night.

xbox 360 pro package - $400
xbox 360 wireless adaptor - $100
xbox 360 wireless controller - $50 (for the 2nd player)
xbox 360 Charge and Play - $20
halo 2 or 3
forza (but the best buy i went to was sold ot of forza)

Is PGM racing or whatever any good?

Your setup is good. YOu'll have everyting you need right there. If you mean Project Gotham racing, I can't say, because I've never played it. And do you mean they were sold out of the original version of Forza? Because Forza 2 doesn't come out until 5/1/07. And Halo 3 won't be out until the end of this year.

We've all offered up our suggestions for games to hold you over until F2 comes out. Worse come to worse, you can just go to BLockbuster and get a few rentals of sign up at gamefly.com. Keep us posted

PGR is fun as hell, but its not anywhere near as realistic as Gran Turismo or Forza

I was talking about the original forza, i realize forza 2 is going to be relased next month, although i wasn't aware Halo3 was a year away for release. I'm sure Halo 2 willdo for now, and I'm sure I can find Forza (the original at another game store)

But I am getting some grief about this prospective purchase from the misses. So.... we'll have to see.

Forget Halo2. Pick up either LOST PLANET or Rainbow6:Vegas. Both have amazing single player campaigns and even better multiplayer.

Yea, I've been done with Halo 2 for a long time. The only way you should attempt to play it online is if your some Psycho-God to the game. I don't even attempt it. R6 is awesome online.

1 quick qestion about the pro package. I know it comes with the component cable (hi def cable) but does it also come with the composite video cable? or will i need to purchase that as well?

The triggers on the back are also pressure sensitve.. that's what you use as throttle and brake in project gotham.

I bought the first 360, less than a week and I exchanged it for another, now this one is acting up and I have to send it to microsoft to get fixed. I have been meaning to do that for a while now.

i think mine came with everything (the pro package). the only thing i needed to pick up was the adapter to play it on my PC monitor

right, i knew about those. it was the r1 and l1 plus the main buttons i was asking about. I had considered a 360 usb controller initially when i started collecting emulators again, but in the end i chose the saitek 2600 which is in the more familiar (to me at least) dualshock format

if your looking for games, gears of war is a great single player and co-op campaign game. im not a fan of its multiplayer though.

rainbow 6 is probably the best game out for the 360 right now (arguably of course). The campaign is challenging but very realistic and the multiplayer and co-op modes never get boring. ive been addicted to that games multiplayer for months. crackdown will also be a great game comming out the 20th

Yea, Gears is awesome as single player and co-op. I hate the multiplayer though. Its full of gays who like to do actions with their characters before your character dies. try not to be the last guy on your team to die, otherwise they will try to make it look like they are smacking your ass or sticking their schween in your mouth.

Its one cable that has both. There is alittle switch on the connect for HD and SD video.

Yo, while I was checking out deals on laptops at Office Depot I noticed that they have the wireless adapter for 360 for $88, wireless controller for $38. I think this would apply to in store purchase too, but just throwing out som info to save you some money. You can probably get some of the other stuff cheap too.

Well 2 months have gone by and last night I took the plunge. I got the xbox pro, wireless network antenna, and a spare wireless controller. I was pleasantly surprised at the deal i got thru bestbuy and their rewards card.

I also picked up forza, PGR3, and Top spin2. (all used) Only got about an hour or so in on each game last night but I'm very pleased with my purchase so far.
