I work for an accounting firm in Southampton. I do the administrative work/IT Work/Whatever the CPA's don't want to do work. My salary really depends on how much OT I work during the tax season. So my base salary is around $35k, but it ranges from $35-42k. I am not an accountant either, the junior accountant who works with me (who does not have his CPA) makes double what I do. I work for a fairly large (for this industry), very technologically advanced cabinetmaking shop. I do much of the, benefits, payroll, IT work and even get to travel around the country to fix any mistakes that people here may have made. Perks of the job are being sent to places like Las Vegas for 3 days, Beverly Hills for 4 days, and Fort Lauderdale for 3 days. Not to mention the capability to make insane subwoofer enclosures (provided I can get some machine time).

I make enough money to pay for all my toys and still have some money to spare.

I think the average household in America sees about $44,000 a year before taxes. I couldn't find any concrete data on individual citizen avg. income.

My wife and I are surviving with my pool service business. We are having a really good second season in business, but our expenses are crazy. Insurance is insane for anything involving chemicals.

I'm aiming for $175-200k in total service sales by mid-November. After expenses and insane taxes, we might actually have some extra cash saved.
Next year should be a lot better with a little more advertising.

I'm only slaving for "the man" hopefully for a year until I can get back to school...then its off to own my own business like "the pool man"
