im telling him how to gain it the natural way..you dont know anything about that. so when he starts popping anabolic steroids you can give him the pointers for that

i've been lifting for close to 8 years now, with about a 1 month break back in 01.
I've done the natural minor supplement thing for years.

i understand you disagree with my approach and i shouldn't endorse it as a solution. But I also don't like giving solid mass numbers to people, because when they don't reach that 15 lbs of promise lean mass, they will lose faith, and i've seen this way too many times to count.

I know guys who've lifted as long as I did and are hard gainers, where gains 5 lbs its like a feat in itself. You should like you can gain size easily, but thats not a universal truth for everyone out there.

funny **** is i've pretty much tried like 90% of the crap out there, especially when I worked at a GNC lol.

I think thats what really made me hate such fake magazines and companies like muscle and fitness, and flex magazine, and muscletech and their overpriced crap.

i understand too, since i busted my ass for 8+ years. I started out struggling with 135 lbs on the bench and now I set my own record at 405 lbs last week.
We're somewhat agreeing and disagreeing at the same time.

15 lbs of mass will be hard to achieve, but every person is different.

by the way don't forget the fertilized and unorganic foods you have eaten as you grew up may have contributed to who you are today. Thats why there are 9 year olds with C cups now LOL

things I learned throughout the years.
- 6-7 days a week of working out don't help. I gained more doing only 3 days a week and I still do.
- proper form and time to execute are so critical. I started doing crappy formed, and never gained, until a personal trainer pointed it out, and the following months thereafter i just grew in size and strength.
- cycle through various workouts, but only change them every couple or weeks or even months. You won't be able to compare your lifts week to week if you change them, and also your needs a couple weeks to even adapt and perform the new excersice properly.
- Write in a journal. it helps me record my weight, how I feel, and jot down all my lifts. I can usually correlate bad workouts with something (i.e. I found out not to eat spicy food on lifting days!)
- Don't ever ever ever ever be self conscious at the gym! You're working out for your own sake, so don't be worried about your size or strength levels!

here are some tips i posted on another forum:
Leg position - I try to keep my feet tucked underneath me, where my feet are almost directly under where my butt is. I've been liking this stance, because I feel as if I use my legs less, than if they are spread out and apart.

Locking into position - when I put my hands on the bar, and try to "wedge" myself in between the bar and the bench. I try to imagine I'm stuck between two rocks and trying to pry one of them away.

Grip width- I'm accustomed to a close grip. the grip is about shoulder width and not wider. I've grown accustomed to this because once I was told, the best width for
As a test for grip width, fall forward toward a wall, and catch yourself from hitting the wall with your hands... the natural way you catch yourself may be your perfect grip width.

Never lift ass off the bench - I don't know why I even see power lifters do this. Lifting the ass off the bench does two things- it shortens the distance between the chest and top of lift (which makes u workout less), and second- you are hitting different angles of the chest. In essence, it's like a decline bench.

I never get a lift off - lifting off makes my body "shocked" as soon as the spotter takes his hands off the weight. My theory- if you can't lift off, don't even try to rep it.

The program i am on does change every 3 weeks. How it works is week one ill do heavy, not as strict form, low reps sets of 8-6-4-max. next week is reps generally the same core moves but with lowr weights12-10-10-8. then the last week again the same core moves but they are combined into super-sets for range. I did that for 3 months straight and just ate alot of protien while doing minimal cardio and put on roughly 12 pounds of lean muscle. I cant expect that result over the next 3 months nor do i want it, i dont want to be huge, so now i am just doing a few weeks of reps and cardio to cut out some of the fat.

every body is different I have been chasing the get big dragon for years. I have tried all different types of supps. Though my own trials and errors I really believe the key is a clean diet... Lots of Lean meat, Chicken, Fish.
Whole grains, Brown rice, Cous cous, Sweet potatoes, Whole Wheat pasta, and lots of oatmeal in the morning. The real stuff with either a bit of splenda or sugar free sryup. You really have to watch your sugar and carbs and make sure you are ingesting the correct ones. Also Alcohol is another issue. Try and stay away but if you have to drink stay clear away from beer.

Start counting your calories. You have to figure how much is going to be enoughh to add muscle. I am up to 5500 cals per day I eat over 6 times a day just starting to put some mass on. But then it is hard to stay real cut when bullking so you must balance.

Protien intake is very important but remember the body will only really be able to digest about 45 grams or less of a protien shake. I love Isopure. 200 cals no fat no carbs plus 50 grms of protien. I hate a thick shake so this works out great thin and very easy to drink.

Your workouts have to be smart and well planned. Keep the movements fresh. I do 2 body parts per work out.
Shoulders/Traps
Back/Bi's
Rest
Chest/Tri's
Legs/Calfs
Rest
Rest

I like to lift really heavy for 3 weeks and then the 4th week go light high reps. Always to failure.
It is not easy it is a lifestyle. But I will get off my soap box. Just remember to eat eat eat eat. That is the most important.

I started lifting back in december and straight through june. At first I was just taking 2 or 3 protein shakes a day and after a few months I figured I'd try an NO2 reactor. I wanted to stay away from creatine the best I could so I found this stuff called X-Pand by Dymatize and I took that along with my protein for about a month and a half. I saw somewhat of an increase in strength, but the real change was in energy level. I could put out way more reps then before and not feel beat when I left the gym. I also put on some pounds too, I went from around 190 to 205 and hit 210 once (i'm still skinny considering i'm 6'4). I stopped the NO2 and protein sometime in may and actually saw a significant increase in muscle size and strength right after I stopped(not really sure why). I havent lifted in about a month though now, thanks to vacations and working from 6:30am-6pm outside all day for my summer job and by the time I get home I'm usually too beat to do anyting. Just remember, you dont need to take a bunch of supplements to see results. Hard work will pay itself off. Oh yea and dont be afraid to hit that treadmill

yea, its got 4g...it's the least amount I could find in anything at the time. When I said "stay away from creatine the best I could" that's what I meant.

i've got a question for ya igo4bmx...I hear stories about creatine use and hairloss being associated with one another. Now I know there is no scientific proof of creatine causing hair loss and I know tons of guys who take it without any problems, however I keep reading more and more peoples complaints online about losing hair while taking creatine. I know steroid use can cause hair loss, but what's your opinion on creatine and hair loss?

i don't see a relevance to why that would happen.

to summarize creatine, all it does is promote the creation of adensine tri-phosphate (ATP) which is pretty much energy. this is why people feel gains, because they have more energy to convert into work.

I don't see why creatine would do that unless something else has been happening at the same time. most people who take a supplement also try to change up their diet, and that could be doing it too.

I have alot to say, but im really lazy and don't feel like typing it all out....so heres the cliffnotes...

What works for some people won't work for everyone else, the key is finding what works for you. Some general rules of thumb are to keep good form, like igo4bmx said, that weight means nothing if you have no form. You can curl all you want, but if your whole body is swinging then it means nothing. With excersices try and squeeze the muscle your working at the peak. For example, rows(seated, bentover etc..) when you are at the point where your arms are straight out, squeeze your back together. Also, it may sound stupid, but make sure you are using the muscles you are trying to work out. Sometimes, if you are not paying attention, people have a tendency to let other muscles help with the work out. Select that muscle you want and focus on just using that. And when finishing up a set, on the last rep, if you cant get it up, get to the highest point you can and hold it there for a good 5-10 secs. This is all for now....over and out....
