Why am I in a faster class then other AWD cars with race rubber?? Can some brek this down for as to how their classification system works?? I'm more used to the SS and SM classification that seems to be a bit more fair..

I assume you are running in SM. SM allows lots of power upgrades, lots of suspension work and R-compound tires. FTD (fastest time of the day) was set by a SM car, Mike Fineburg and his EVO with a 32.962.

What modifications does your car have?

Ah, I found the classification page..But I find it very strange that I am competing against cars with race rubber, which is very stupid IMHO..Unbelieveably, the Mini is in a slower class then the EVO, which is at a huge disadvantage on theese tiny tracks..Mabye I should look more into track days, seems to be more of my thing anyway..I find that half the time I am spending is trying to associate the placement of theese cones in relation to the track, and I always get it messed up..My RX7 would be more suited for this type of thing anyway..

s13 kouki tail lights refer to the JDM 180sx tail lights from the last few years the chassis was in production

Yeah, it's kind of backwards to use race tires in a stock class, but the tires evolved faster than the rules and the R-compounds are still DOT approved. The other weird stock class rule allows you to change shocks. The rules let you replace the parts that wear out, but the rules are a little relaxed, because you can replace the shocks with double adjustables and still be in stock class.

Send a message via AIM to Twin_Cam
And Stock class also allows changing front sway bars, because clearly they're wear items.

Haha.

so what is the number in the far right hand corner of the times list? is that your average w/handicap included? i knew there was better raw times than me in novice. i'm a bit confused still on the ranking.

The number on the far right in the Novice class is your PAX adjusted time. If you notice in the overall rankings, the time to the right in your Novice ranking is the same number. If you look at the times under the names, you'll see everyone's RAW times.

And peteyturbo, not sure which one your car qualifies for, but you should try to run STX or STU. You have many more options for upgrades and it is a street tire class, so no R-compounds. I think that could be more fitting for you.

Also as it relates to the course, Boeing is the smallest lot that the Philly Region SCCA runs on, so not a typical course layout. You should try and make it out to a Warminster or a Ripken Stadium event. I promise you'll find it worth your time. Much more open, longer, and faster. And you'll get used to figuring out the cones. After a few events it starts to become second nature. Now if only I could get myself to naturally look ahead!

Good times, I'm glad I went and polished up my grip driving skills. I think I got told that it was not a drift event about 4 times before I was even on track.. haha.. I still wonder how that plymouth boat out ran me. I know the guy was a seasoned vetran but damn, he really pushes that boat hard..

#70 SM class.

Yeah, Matt's not too bad in the old boat. Even on a tight course like that. Also that course was one that was laid out near the end of last season, so there was no learning the course for him I'm sure.

I think I remember seeing you there. Only MR in that graphite color right? I got there around the same time. The MR with the 275s all around was after an older M3 (late 90's) and before a yellow Vette. I remember that b/c the older guy in the Vette was messin with him saying stuff like, "What does the MR mean? Master Ricer? Master Racer?" He churned out 33-32 second runs consistantly and was pretty quick in the last 180º turn, usually putting it on 3 wheels.

No, the "not a drifting event" was directed to the blue old school BMW that would drift some of the turns.

Why don't all of the AutoX guys put together a FAQ or something and make it a sticky?

Check out www.myautoevents.com and you can do searches for autocrosses, road course events, drag race events, etc. It's pretty cool, you should check it out.
