Not true! O+A, who themselves were on Howard's show 10 years ago begging him for a job, used to sit there and talk about how old he is despite the fact that they lie about their own ages and are only a few years younger than he is. But Howard's prediction did come true... And why would anyone wanna subscribe to XM now when they get O+A for free? Wow, so they he can someone say the "F" word....big deal. XM will loose a few more subscribers off that deal. And BTW Howard was offered a deal to come back to testicle radio and turned it down! He prefers to be free from the FCC and do they type of show he wants to do.

You lost any credibility you may have had with that post. Nothing that you said is based on facts.

1. Anthony was in a contest on Stern's show and that was more than 10 years ago. It was before he ever got into radio and he was working as an a/c installer at the time. OnA never "begged" Stern for a job.

2.They don't lie about their age. Opie just had a birthday a week ago and he said, on air, how old he is.

3.Stern's prediction did not come true. OnA were on the radio for three years in NYC before they were "fired". they had been fired before that in Boston as well so predicting that they may get themselves fired wasn't really going out on a limb.

4.Most people who listen to both Fm and Xm will tell you that the XM show is better, hands down.

5.Stern was not offered a deal to come back to terrestrial radio, it was a lie. Stern just wanted to try and spin the Fm deal as a bad thing.

Hey you love O+A....it's all good....to each their own. But I don't see anyone giving a 500,000,000 million dollar deal to O+A. I've read plenty of articles about Stern that don't mention O+A but I've yet to read one about O+A that doesn't mention Stern.....wanna tell me why that is?
P.S. Why the hell would a grown man call himself Opie? I wonder what Ron Howard thinks of that?

the page doesnt have any hard #'s for their subscriptions.. but one would have to assume that if it was doing well,.. they'd still be charging for it.

as for xm losing 500,000 subscribers.. thats not 500k CURRENT subscribers.. they knocked down their estimates for new subscribers for the year. in the meantime.. sirius has raised theirs. that gap is closing FAST. people were calling into stern to say they were trying to cancel their xm subscriptions and xm wont let them! theyre offering free subscriptions for a number of months to people trying to cancel just to hold onto subscribers.

as for theyre great because "their contract got renewed". well of course it did. they now have 3 hours of advertising on free radio every day. if that doesnt bring a ton of listeners to xm you can stick the nail in the coffin.. nothing will save them.

to the person that said stern wasnt offered terrestrial radio... yes he was. the LIE about it, was that the media printed he was considering it,.. and one or two even printed that it was a done deal. he made it clear he wasnt interested whatsoever. i happened to listen to o&a the day howard was talking about this so i happen to know for a fact they were spinning this.. so believe those clowns if you want. the facts are out there.

1.A sub cost $10.95 at the time and OnA were $2 extra. They dropped the extra fee and raised the sub cost to $12.95. If they were failing and no one signed up than why would XM expose OnA to their entire lineup .If OnA were doing so bad why wouldn't XM just fire OnA.

2. Stern did not have a deal to go back to terrestrial radio. Who would he sign with? Certainly not CBS. Clear Channel pulled him off the air so they wouldn't be the on to sign him. The owner of Citadel hates Stern and he would never sign Stern either. Those are the three major companies in radio. So who would your hero sign with? The whole thing was made up by Stern.

maybe XM has a little more sense than CBS.. instead of firing someone and paying their contract anyway, just keep them around to serve their time and see what happens.

you're right.. stern didnt have a deal to go back to fm.. he had OFFERS. i dont know which company or companies... im not stern(nor are you). its already well known that CBS offered Artie his own show after Stern made the announcement he was leaving. So its not a rediculous concept. Probably some company that felt threatened by O&A going to CBS wanted the #1 guy to compete with them.

You're so such an O+A fan that nothing anyone says here would convince you of anything positive in Stern's defense anyway so it's a waste of time. You're the type who could watch a video of OJ committing the murders himself and still say OJ didn't do it!

It works both ways you know. The bottom line is none of us know either of the parties so we really have no way of knowing the REAL truth. So basically, this whole argument is pointless.

Actually OnA are fairly open about what they do. Those guy really do interact with the fans on many different levels. Hell, Anthony even posts on a fan message board.

I have never listened to XM so I have no comment on it. I have Sirius and love it.
As for Stern and O&A. I would take Stern any day. Maybe its becasue I have been listening to him for over 17years. When I listened to O&A they were not my cup of tea. This was on terestrial radio. I have absolutly no desire to try to listen to them or give them a chance. If Howard went off the air for some reason, I would fill that listening time with music. In my opinion, all these jocks are imitating Howard to some degree.
I am a fan of Howard and can admit that he has seen better days, but I will still listen while he's on the air.

hehe.. of course everyone ignores the fact that not only is howard regularly on SFN(not necesarrily posting)... he HIRED the owner of it to host a show on his channel.

not to mention many on stern's staff are previous super fans who've since been hired partly for that reason

but... i know.. this is pointless. obviously this argument will change noones opinion

Just thought I would prove my point a little. Came across this article in the Courier-Post the other day:
http://www.courierpostonline.com/app...40321/1052/ENT
and what do you know, no mention of O+A. Oh wait, I'm sorry. I guess they did make a reference to them:

The writer is a Stern fan.
"Even before Howard Stern came to this market in 1986, I was a fan. I started listening to him in 1984, when he did the afternoon-drive shift on the old WNBC."

You missed the point. The point being that you can't find one article about O+A that doesn't mention Stern but there seem to plenty out there about Stern that don't mention O+A......
