i dont think its a good idea...
first because a lot of people come to the meets who dont regularly visit the forum and you'd be alienating a lot of people who come to the meets. i realize that there are some troublemakers there who we could do without, but there are also a lot of non-forum, non-computer guys who show up and are really cool who we would be leaving out too. it may have taken 6 months for word to spread to them that the meet even existed and we'd be throwing that away.
second, i dont think people realize how difficult it is to find a location where we are welcome and wont be bothered. fresh works is behind us on the meets where they are right now and thats pretty huge. if you did want to move the location you would have to contact the owner of the property you plan to move to and get permission ahead of time. thats not very easy since all we are to a store like The Dump is a liability... we provide them no business and only serve to leave trash, tire tread, and possibly injure ourselves on their property and bring lawsuits... why would they want that?
if you do move, think about looking to another eatery type of place where we can at least provide them some business, and also pick a place that can easily accomodate all of us without interrupting their regular business.
what is the reason for wanting to move? the meets will grow and get bigger wherever we go... right now we're lucky enough to be in a spot where the business on the property welcomes us.

I agree with what you're sayin, but the votes speak for themself. I don't think we would have a problem finding a new willing host to our meets. Its not like the site has a bad reputation.

the meet isnt the closest for me either, but thats not what should dictate the premium location for us.
i dont think most people who said they want to move have considered the logistics of things. just having the interest is not the end of the conversation here.
with that said, someone do the legwork and get permission (in writing preferably) from a property owner for a new location... thats what should be taken care of first. i've seen the middletown cops in action, and it would be suicide to try and move the meet into that area without written permission.

But in all honesty, not that many places would find it beneficial to play host to a crowd of modified and loud cars. It could decrease customer count that night of regulars, as well as attract unwanted attention, and look unprofessional. And if something were to go wrong, the name of the place would be in the papers.

I just don't think they've been too welcome. fresh works yes, the parking lot, no. I just don't think the OTHER store owners appriciate us and thats perhaps why the lights have been off for 3 weeks. I don't go to the meets that much anymores, but i'd like to, and that is why i am voicing my opinion that we SHOULD move, due to the disruptance we are causing all OTHER owners.
On another note. We have never EVER had permission from the owner of the actual lot to be there. We all know, in PA, if there are not "No loitering" signs posted, u can chill there. I just dont think it should be such a big deal getting someones permission unless they actually OWN the property.

There's an understatement....and to be honest, it's probably boarder too, so you'd have to PD's to worry about, and they'd be doing territory warring, so that's one reason why Brt1 cops suck bad. They're NOT forgiving.

Not true for a private parking lot. And the thing is that not all lots that are private are marked private.

You're not allowed to loiter in the mall lot, unless you get a really cool cop/security guy.

Like I've said, it doesn't HAVE to be posted to have it enforced.

perhaps finding a law in writing would be better/easier than permission in writing.

You've lived in PA how long? Everyone in PA should know that written laws don't mean crap, the ones that interpret it make the laws.

True. You'd have to do it on a random night though. As long as they warn before ticketing, I'm up for testing the waters, but I'd feel better having permission.

No they don't! There are 16 votes from people who all live in or around Levitown! How many people actually come to the meets now? More than 16!

I think you guys should do your own tuesday night meets, and we will continue the thursday night meets. That way those who want to go to FW can continue to, those who want to go to Levitown can still do it. If you want to go to both, you can do that too! SO many people know about the FW thurs meets. I talk to people who have heard of it in Quakertown, but have never heard of TST! They might actually come out, but if we move it, they won't find it until 6-8 months from now when the word spreads about the meets again.

Maybe move it in the dead of winter when we have 5-6 cars out each week?

Oh and they most certenly can give you a ticket without signs and a warning...

You have permission to be in the lot as customers of The Fresh Works. I made all the necessary calls before having the meet here.

Unfortunately, I'd say chances of you getting anything in writing is going to be tuff, if not impossible. It has to be done in a don't directly ask/don't tell sort of way.

Why?? I gonna guess that TST isn't carrying any liability insurance for stuff that happens at the meets, and shouldn't have too. But "liability" is a big legal term that costs a lot $ for property owners.
Thank an injury lawyer next time you see one.

The meet is fine. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Because you don't like some of the new faces doesn't mean that you have to exclude them.

Is tristate a registered car club? If so, you are legally allowed to meet up in a public place. That is if they don't have a no loitering policy.

i'm thinking it would be easier to try to 'reshape' the meet at Fresh Works a bit than to move the whole thing to a new spot. people call me every now and again and are like "man people are doing burnouts or donuts" and stuff like that and i say "walk over to them and politely ask them to stop" and they will if there's 30+ people who all agree with you. not looking for any confrontations but some noob doesnt have an ounce of power at those meets even if they've got a loud car and can lay down some rubber. if the 'regulars', and the 'OGs' make sure that the few simple rules of behavior are followed then i'm sure they will be.
if its a more serious issue i wouldnt hesitate to quietly call the police and ask them to swing by. of course if we bother the police too much then we might overstay our welcome though.

are we gonna run from the troublemakers and the ricers once or twice a year each time they catch on to the new spot? i dont think that makes much sense...
