Rotaries don't always suck, they're like that super hot girl with issues that breaths fire, but are high maintenance!

V8's on the other hand are that heffed out girl that will always be faithful, but eats a lot (fuel)

Go Rotary for now, settle for the cheap easy solution later.

OMG, I hate rotaries. Banning them in almost every professional racing series blows too which killed a lot of further developement into them. It's just too much of a headache dealing with it all...

Learn a little and keep it rotary. They can be fast and reliable at the same time. Just make sure you do your research and do it right the first time.

Rotary engines aren't bad engines. If you are unknowledgeable, lax in upkeep and etc it will bite you in the ass. However, if you are knowledgeable and diligent in your upkeep you will be fine. Rotaries have proven time and time again to be very potent and efficient engines. People just do V8 swaps because of cost effectiveness, laziness (in terms of learning and understanding the engine) and durability.

Your choice boils down to your goals for the car, budget and willingness to learn.

I've spent $10k on just a dry sump front cover and a 20B thick center housing with big dowel pin lands. WTF, for the cost of those two parts, you could have a pretty bad ass LSx swap and be set.

i've done mass research, i bought a 13b engine rebuild dvd (just in case) from drifting.com and pretty much decided to rebuild the rotary and try to get around the 300 hp area, maybe higher if finances take off... ill be starting the rebuild around may and i'm hoping to have the car running by fall. i'm gonna pull the motor and repaint the car dark indigo blue, have a buddy weld up the rollcage and work on the engine in my spare time and paycheck to paycheck. i'm deffinately not full of cash so give me a year and ill have it on the road. i'va also done alot of research on a 1jzgte swap and if the rotary proves to much of a headache i'm gonna put a 1jzgte or maybe a 2jz in after i pay off the mazda 3. i found a kit to do the swap for anyone else interested in this swap the site is simply www.2jzswap.com.

Glad to hear you're keeping the rotary! I'm personally not a fan of swaps either and the rotary is the essence of the RX7. Like mentioned earlier, just keep up the maintenance and make sure your keeping the A/F's in check when modding.

There are a lot of ways to save money by making your own stuff for the rotary. For instance, you can make your own water seals from 2.5mm o-ring cord stock from McMaster Carr that can survive a bouncy test that OEM seals cannot. Maybe put in Goopy/ALS apex seals too. I also use a phenolic gasket for the LIM. The main thing that you should truely go stock with is the OEM exhaust manifold gaskets which are pricey. Everything else, I know there are alternatives for.

There are no cracks in the manifold (which is always the case) and the blades look good. For the price, that is a steal.

That is a steal for that turbo. I cant buy any parts till after april sadly. Meanwhile it would be great if people can throw out some good parts websites for the rotary. I seem to be having a rough time finding much for rebuild. and any recommendations on the best/ most reliable brands of parts to use would be greatly appreciated
