Get a buy back price even if you're not interested in buying back....maybe you can sell it for $500 more to someone else who might be interested in parting it out. I might possibly be interested.

not to be a dick bro...but I've known you as far as I can remember. and knowing you....I feel you should just let them total the car, take the money (and parts) and run with it. then, find yourself a decent "non-sports" car, use the rest of the money to pay off any debt, and start financially planting your feet into society.....having a fast car is great and all...but sometimes you have to think a few years ahead and about where you want to be. you really don't want a car note hanging above your head do ya? I mean, hell, you're lucky that you don't have college loans to payback, let alone a car investment....I dunno...just my .02

but I'm glad that you're ok

Another Rex bites it. I crashed mine a few weeks back on my commute to work. The road was slick but even worse yet there were patches of black ice. Stupid me saw the ouside temp at 38f and thought there wasn't a hazzard. I learned the hard way.

The back end started shifting right- I counter turn left, the rear quickly swerves right, and so on ...into a fish tail. I finally lock it in but slide diagonally off the right shoulder into a small tree spinning me backwards hitting a larger tree against my front driver's side wheel (bending the tire inward). The cheap Tire Rack ASA's didn't hold up to well....cracked all but completly in half long-ways along the inner rim. The bumper, right headlamp, fender, wheel, and control arm are damaged. Estimated damage in the 5k range. Still driving the awefull Buik rental car awaiting my car to be fixed. Shop is taking their dandy ol' time.

If I get it back and it doesn't drive like new- I'm trading it for one of the SRT-8 models. ;)

How hard did you hit? Are you sure you came close to totaling it? Totaling mine would have been easier because I have gap insurance- and I'd probably be driving my new car replacment this week.

Btw, anyone who said Progressive stink at handling claims...has never had Progressive handle their claim. Everything has been excellent so far! *knock on wood*

Very good words of wisdom. I've considered that too if my car was "totaled"- going out to the local Hyundai dealership and picking up an Accent and pocketing all the extra cash to save for a house. God knows I'm 28 and really need to start thinking that way.

However, that said- feeling the way I feel driving my Buick rental car...almost as if someone is siphoning my soul as I drive it....I don't know if I could hack it. At least until I get some more milage out of the STi, I only had 12k on it when I got in the accident.

My next car will probably be economical...that is if the new Supra isn't out yet. ;)

Karl, I think I'm with Gohan on his post. I seriously think im going to strip all the pipes from my car and leave it stock. I cant deal with these problems, even though they may be minor I have a job I need to worry about. The wrex is the only mode of transportation and I cant have it blowing seals & turbos & clutch etc etc.. Speed is nice, but in all reality what are my goals for the car.. umm I have no goals. Its a daily driver, and thats what it will always be. I think you would be better off saving your money and getting a nice car.. nothing to expensive.

I'm just trying to picture what happened. Turning the steering wheel to the left, when the back of the car slides to the right would make the skid worse. When the back of my car steps out, I turn towards the outside of the corner and accelerate to help the rear regain traction.

By the way, the blurry pic is a shot of the front of the trunk, right behind the seat. It is bent right across the top.

There is a LOT of rear suspension damage.
