I'm having a hurricane party at temple you're all invited. I'm getting two cases of - you guessed it - Hurricane 40's (hence my earlier brace for the smooth taste reference). Also have 3 kegs. Party is Saturday night

I'll be spending the day tomorrow taking pictures all around the house for insurance purposes, and moving everything from downstairs to upstairs, secure everything, and then evacuating to PA.

Yea the insurance thing would be a good idea....if they let you haha. We're restricted from writing any new business or increasing values on vehicles from SC all the way up along the coast to the NY area.

I just checked to make sure I have all my coverage. I have full coverage, but needed to verify what it covers lol.

DANGEROUS HURRICANE IRENE IS FORECAST TO TRACK NORTH NORTHEAST
THROUGH SUNDAY, WHICH BRINGS THE CENTER VERY NEAR THE NEW JERSEY
AND DELAWARE COASTS SUNDAY. THE STORM WILL BRING DAMAGING WINDS,
TORRENTIAL RAINFALL AND COASTAL FLOODING. THE AMOUNT OF RAINFALL
ANTICIPATED IS 6 TO 12 INCHES. THIS AMOUNT OF RAIN IN COMBINATION
WITH A WET MONTH WILL LEAD TO WIDESPREAD FLOODING. THERE IS THE
POTENTIAL FOR MAJOR FLOODING IN SOME LOCATIONS. WHEN MAKING
DECISIONS, DO NOT FOCUS ON THE EXACT FORECAST TRACK AS THIS

The eye collapsed. There is no chance of it strengthening now, so it is probably not going to be nearly as bad.

Doesn't necessarily mean that. Eyewalls can go through cycles.

"In some cases, Landsea writes, a hurricane coming out of an eyewall replacement cycle can be even stronger. This is what happened with Hurricane Andrew as it was nearing the Florida coast. It was at its strongest at landfall, right at the end of an eyewall replacement cycle."

We'll see how it progresses.

They can, and they do, but in this case, it is unlikely that it will intensify past this point. While that doesn't mean it is out of the realm of possibilities, the storm is a lot less threatening than it was 24 hours ago.

That, and the current track projected by NOAA is a lot friendlier to NJ.

And here I was hoping that Irene would wash away Seaside. Drat.
