They probe your tailpipe and take a sniff.

CEL = Check Engine Light

95 and older gets the sniffer test. With no cats, I doubt you will pass.

I have a 98 mustang gt with full aftermarket exhaust (headers, x-pipe, and mufflers) and it does have cats. But they are hi-flow ones. not factory. I don't have a CEL so my guess is I would pass. Its really loud tho.

Your educated opinion?

go f-ing figure. I'm driving to the inspection station and the CEL comes on. I'm about to just burn the car to the ground.

Yes. Tint will pass inspection.

It is still illegal to drive with it though anywhere on either side of the driver or the windshield.

New Inspection Laws

This concerns intakes cuz I just got mine last month but do intakes affect whether or not if you pass or fail. AEM gave me a C.A.R.B. Sticker for under my hood. I'm guessing this is essential for an inspection?

Intake shouldnt be a thought for legality. Your hood isnt being opened, all cars 1996 and up jave secondary 02 sensors, so all they do is plug into your OBD port and get a reading that way, and your done in 2 minutes.

You can pass inspection with no cats this way by way of a fouler plug or resistiors in your signal line of the secondary 02. This causes the signal to read much lower than it really is.

Edit: I just realized your from PA ... your inspection may be different.... NJs has been dumbed down to nothing practically.

Article you read and answers you shall receive. But since I'm sure your lazy

Effective August 1, 2010, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission made changes to the New Jersey Vehicle Inspection Program eliminating the mechanical defects (safety) portion of the inspection process for passenger vehicles. Most passenger vehicles will be required to be inspected biennially (every two years) for emissions only.
Meaning, in simpler terms, the only thing you need to pass is emissions. Also, don't have any CEL's, but that's obvious

Yea a 91 MR2 with hollow piping and 250hp isn't coasting through inspection anytime soon. You can wait it out 6 years and get Historic tags. lol

does your car need to be 20 years old to have Historic tags? also can you only drive it on certain days?
