I got my uncles Monte Carlo for free, blew lower intake gaskets, put about $500 to put it back on the road and driveable. Other problems have occured during it but insurance is cheap at $50/month. I can usually put about $300-400 a paycheck into savings, every other week.

hahathat sound slike my fiancee's friend, she had to do like $700 in repairs on her car that was paid off. She said she couldn't afford it, so instead she goes out and buys a brand new Hyundai. My fiancee and I were both like? WTF you can't afford $700 so you get into 20K of debt?

Please don't get me started on car debt. I'm pissed with my girlfriend and her past decisions on her car. Carried over car loan to another car and now owes massive car payments. Thank goodness I've helped her think better financially and now might be able to pay it off sooner.

with car payments, since im 18 and have no idea. Whats the difference in paying on a new car vs. a used one? say like my parents bought my car, 92 saturn, for 2700 versus a new car, if that makes sense?

Used car rates are horrendous compared to new car rates. I screwed myself on my car but you live and you learn. I dont want to buy another car til I can pay cash and not have to make car payments ever. Easier said then done tho.

I've always wanted an older BMW since my dad got an 84' E30 when I was little. Well here I am at today with an older BMW. However, it has some issues I need to work out.

It is cheaper to own two borderline reliable used cars than a new car. I've done it year after year now buying a second used car for the winter and selling it in the spring while I use the winter as the maintainance window on the saab to fix what I broke (note, that I admit that I personally broke it). My wife has a brand new car with a $400 payment, I spend may be $800/year on maintainance of my car... I may be spend another $400 on random crap that I don't need... I'm happy with the car I have, now she isn't happy and now wants another one even though it's her second new car in three years. Lucky for me she pays for her own car cause there's no way in hell I'd be able to afford that... she's now pushing for a house and realistically, we can't afford a house, but she tells me "but we're approved for 200K" and I just tell her that she can go ahead and buy it, but I'm moving to mexico. You gotta look at what you can and can't afford, 3/4 of my salary goes towards our bills, health insurance, rent, etc... I know that even if my salary doubled I would not buy any other crap at the moment...blah, does anyone wanna buy my bike?

Nick, there have been companies that did studies. Don't sure if my info is current or even accurate, but the idea behind it still stands.

New car - payment, higher insurance, general maintance, once warrenty runs out, you may/may not still have payments and on top of that have maintance and stuff brake.

Used car - no loan payment, lower insrnace, general maintance, random stuff will brake.

Even with only a $300 payment, with collission/comp your insurnace is atleast $100 more. That alone is $4000. I've owned some beaters, and I never put that much money into any of them...

Its like 35 cents a mile to buy a car out right VS 60 cents a mile if you have a loan.

i'm trying to ghetto rig two rain style shower heads in my bathroom. i accidentally purchased a cheap ass plastic y pipe that is for switching between the two exits... so i need to go to home depot tomorrow and pick up a real y pipe... and see if there is a way to increase the water pressure any.

when i've got my own place i'm going to have one of those huge awesome showers that shoot water out of everywhere! then all i need to do is figure out where to mount the tv and xbox...
