Here, Just took a few pics to add to the thread before I came home today from my garage. I've been slacking in this thread too, But I feel a bit weird when I take up a bunch of pages with new pics and no one else posts any.

red seems to be the color of the day

Got some new 99' headlight housings. Stuffed 1 set of 2, In each box. OCD kicks in when I am ready to get something I think , Because I always end up with bulk amounts LOL.

And, My garage that even though it is big, Seems to small even knowing it's just me in there alone and nobody else aha. I want bigger!

Dude, we NEVER get tired of your cars. no one else gets that many in one pict!! lol. BTW, I PM'ed ya. ;)

As of last saturday I no longer own a DSM. I sold my GS-T's remains for $500 to a buddy. no exhaust, no turbo, not much useable interior. he wanted the powertrain.

Hopefully I get another one built soon

My pride and joy. 90 AWD.

J.K Just brought it in today. I'm pulling the mint 6-bolt longblock out of it and taking the car to the junkyard.

Car was in good body shape, (Just ugly colors), Until my friend thought it was a good idea to accidentally run the front of it over with his truck when he was pushing it in fo me today.

Really considering selling my talon, and being done with imports. 5th alternator in 2 years is not good.
Never buy alternators from advanced, this is my third from them "lifetime warranty" my ass, i'm tired of pulling them. Another was from NAPA, that one lasted a week, got my money back on that one, and another from a autoparts place that lasted 18 hours.
No subs, no radio, and super-duper grounds. pissing me off.

^^then it AIN'T the alternators' fault. u have an issue. check what the draw is and all that jazz.

Been there, done that.
Re-did all the grounds, 4ga from engine to chassis, 0 from batt to ground, multiple grounding point re-done with 8ga at all the factory engine points, no radio hooked up, fuel pump is 10 gauge through a relay direct to battery. Also checked the resistance points from battery to all ground points, and they are reading the min that my metwer will read(.02 ohms)
The only active(at all times) electronics is the turbo timer, and probally a small drain to the ECU. Other than that, theres no radio, subs, amps, a/c, neons, big mouth bass, or extra widgets in the car.
No change in alternator output when the headlights are on or off, or if all the accesories are on, defrost, blower, wipers, and interior lights.
It used to put out 14.4, but now only puts out 13.1 if i am lucky. Typically it is around 12.5.
I've had the alternators fail all sorts of ways, they were not always the same style of failure, the first one (90 amp from advanced)worked fine for a while, but it just up and died. Got another one real quick from a parts house while advance got my new one in, this one developed low voltage output after a day or so. The warrantied one was installed, and lasted overnight until i got to work, where it died on the way home.(I still have their last "new"warranty one sitting on my shelf). Its replacement it worked for almost a year, but the thrust bearings failed(not from too much tension on the belt, double checked that) and the fan started grinding into the case. Its warrantied replacement is the current one and has lasted a little over a year.
Two alternators within a week really miffed me, and i thought that i finally had gotten a good one.
I'm not blowing them up on reconnect either, as i disconnect neg terminal from battery.
ITs getting to be too much of a hassle. I'd rather mess with my duster, or ride my bikes.

Put a heat shield around the alternator, have one professionally built, or use the saturn alternator.

Relocated to rear of block to avoid all but the last of those solutions, which may be this cars final chance.
