Just picked up a Mosin Nagant Model 1891/30 from Delaware valley sports center for $155 out the door. Went in there asking if they did FFL and they actually had 2 in stock so me and my friend picked them both up. Was cheaper online but cost of shipping taxes and paying them for paper would have made more sense just to by it right then and there sure maybe i might have save $10 or so dollars but didn't have to wait a couple weeks and deal with the extra stuff I'm happy and still don't think its a bad price. was $125 but taxes n free $155 plus i didn't have to buy it online and spent hours cleaning the crap off. Just gotta find a out door range so i can test it out

For $900 the possibilities are almost endless. You posted two very different guns though. The Sig mosquito is a .22LR, made for plinking (fun) at the range and nothing more. The Para is a 1911 design, which is in .45ACP.. a gun and caliber worthy of carry, home defense, etc.

There will be a million different suggestions about which to get, but none will be useful to you unless you narrow it down to a particular style that you want or need.

Start with your goals. What's the gun for? Is it going to be strictly a range gun or do you anticipate a mix of carry (or even just home defense) + range for practice?

Get a $30 permit or valid hunting licence and there is plenty of ranges you can use free year round at quite a few state game lands. Such as State Game lands #43 at French Creek. Free range out there and you can use any round...

Just giving you a heads up if you buy a gun offline and have it sent too your ffl you don't have to pay taxes on it. Nice nagant tho.

Man I have only been to a game land range a few times, seen some very stupid stuff there plus if you go there with anything tactical/nfa you get a lot of looks.

$900? You have a lot of options then.

Some of my personal favorites...

HK P30 V3

Kimber Ultra Carry II

Anything by Springfield

A little more than $900

Shot the mosin yesterday at Langhorne Rod and Gun, lots of fun. Still having small ejection issues though, the bolt doesn't stick as badly but there is the same scratch mark on every casing that comes out.

I loaded one in and ejected without firing and the mark wasn't there. Seems like something that is happening after the shot, a metal on metal bind. I'll post a pic later, any ideas for now?

P.S. My friend and I had targets at 50 yards and did pretty well scoring a few headshots and a lot of body shots too.

Also, you can shoot the Mosin inside of Classic Pistol, no restriction on ammo from what I understand.

i'd say likely a mix of everything...

after doing more research, i def want to stick with .40 or higher. looking to get one with higher capacity mag too.

i like the h&k p30 a lot... the DA is sick looking too, but may be a little much for my first.

Ive shot mine there with surplus ammo. I dont think you can use tracers, fr agmenting, or 50cal rounds but that shoul be it.

9mm is a very effective defensive round, dont rule it out if you think its a inferior cartridge
