That only happens when you buy a POS ?!??!? Just messing. He si right though. Really look at that car good before buying it. There is so many ways to cover up stuff to last just long enough to sell it.

IE - new water pump sounds good but that also could mean the old one failed and he over heated or ran hot
fresh fluids - changed it just to sell or always does it?

Nah, I kind of jumped into the purchase. I looked over the car, looked under it, and it all looked well. I drove it, and it had the typical front end bangs that I was prepared for. After you actually get your hands dirty, you realize "oh, this looks worn, I should replace it."

if a dealer won't let you have a mechanic look over the car, you don't buy it

Usually, a dealer will let you take it to a mechanic. Each dealer has their own terms on how this process is done. For example, when my dad bought a car for my brother, he left his car at the dealer and took the car he was interested in to the mechanic. Just talk to the dealer, and like Ken said, if they say no, walk away.

They will let you do whatever you want if they want the sale. Judging by the economy they will kiss your ass right now for a sale.

I am learning on the Probe but I drive it few and far between (like every 3 weeks) cause it's not insured and I'm not insuring it unless I'm keeping it. It wouldn't be so bad if Brandon had a license right now and he could drive it to an industrial park and let me drive around, but, for obvious reasons, he has more to lose if he gets caught driving than I do. I drove it tonight and stalled.. once at a red light and then once when I was making a right onto my street, some dickbag in a giant pick up truck decided to ****ing drive alllllll the way on the right (aka My side of the street) and I panicked and hit the brake without engaging teh clutch. Geez. But yeah, tonight was the first time I stalled it on the street. =/

I daily drive a stick...so yeah.

And you panicked and hit the brakes without DISENGAGING the clutch, which is why you stalled.
