I hear you there. My commute is 26 miles each way to and from school 5 days a week. Can't wait till I get my degree so I can stop driving all that distance lol.

That is how far I used to drive. I've cut it in about 1/2 but there is more traffic this way so my time in the car only dropped a little.

If either if you guys needs help let me know, I would help you out as best that I can. My first suggestion would be to use illustrator and not photoshop.
That's not a bad idea. My main issue is that I don't approve of 90% of the work I see out there. The guys I'd like to train me, I do ask the occasional question to (usually about their work and the technique they used). The trouble is the person whose work I like the most uses fireworks for *everything*. Even stuff that is obviously easier with illustrator so I'm like hrrrrrmmmm.. He uses after effects as well for camera and lighting effects (and it looks awesome even as a still).

I'm doing roughly 50 miles a day round trip for work. Sometimes ya just gotta do what ya gotta do. Yeah, I'd LOVE to work closer to home, but this is where the money is.

Good luck. It takes a certain type of person to do the job.

mines about 50 miles EACH way. But like you said this is where the money is. But then again I don't want to live closer to work, i'd like work to be closer to me.

Fireworks is ok, it's a web version of illustrator, it does some things easier but sometimes it thinks too much (at least for me). Aftereffects is great, i use if for video and have used it for some web effects like intros and such back in the day. You can create some really cool 3d graphics with after effects rather easily compared to a 3d drawing/rendering software.

I generally make sure the trainer(s) are adobe certified. Granted I'm just looking for someone to tell me how to use tools, and what new tools there are, not how to create certain things. I've actually learned more about creating things just by downloading source files and digging into them. Then i can see what they are doing to create specific effects.

Should I buy a diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee? Same engine as in the sprinter... I still have to go test drive it.
