SOSOSOSOSO close to striking a deal on the Mazda 3.63 gears. Found a guy who bought a set and never used them. Stock rear is a 4.1:1 which leads to lots of wheelspin and not lots of usable powerband.

Moving along. Did a leakdown test too and got 96% with some oil down the hole. Motor hasn't even been started yet :-)

Worked on trying to set my valve clearance. Looks like I'll need to buy 8 shims or so. After some shuffling I got my intake side very nicely in spec but exhaust is all over. One measures as high as .016. I had an intake at .002 initially but managed to get it to .007

Still haven't made oil lines and such, probably going to do that with motor dropped in car. I don't want to make lines and then realize they're in the way of something.

Got my 3.63 gears, still need a speedo drive sender thing. Also leaning towards these 2 items as well

Full COP setup http://fab9tuning.com/index.php?rout...oduct_id=41766

Big Intercooler http://fab9tuning.com/index.php?rout...&product_id=51

Some more updates. Head shimming ALMOST done.

Got my 14" curved SPAL pull fan, looks great.
Big Intercooler coming next week
COP setup coming by Christmas

Also found someone to do my differential build. PuddyModRacing does a lot of stuff for Miatas, S2000s, Nissan, BMW, etc. He will build me a differential using my supplied gears and a core diff in his stock. Then he will ship me the built diff, and I will return my stocker to replace the core. I'm getting the stage 2 build.

PM Stage 2 rear build,
The rear is set up for N/A and boosted cars.
It is rebuilt from the housing in starting with every rotating part being cryogenically thermo cycled, then new pinion bearings and seals are used to assemble. There is a one piece PuddyMod solid steel sleeve used instead of an OEM crush collar. The solid sleeve is made of 10/20 mandrel steel, it is seamless and will not compress under heavy stress like the OEM can. Solid sleeves are used in high performance racing rear ends because they work. The PM sleeve is a custom made part to fit this rear, it is a one piece steel sleeve. The stock hardware is replaced with new 10.9 hardware. Backlash is set at 2 to 3.5 thousands giving a tighter gear to gear fit.
Full Blueprint assembly of rear using precision accuracy to better than factory tolerances.

It's very reasonably priced considering the seals and bearings for the diff are about $150-200 from mazda alone. Then labor would typically run 300-400 minimal. He's doing the stage 2 for right under $1000

Just a little between the steering column and the trans, but it makes a pretty quick dip down right out of the turbo. We mocked it up with the new downpipe yesterday and just need to adjust some of the exhaust hangers out back and it will line up.

We'll have the whole system dropped to do the diff so perfect timing.

Lots still left to do.

Make oil and coolant lines
Install fuel pump
Install oil cooler kit
Install inter cooler and make pipes
Install radiator and secure new fan
Wire fan, boost solenoid, new goods into megasquirt
Install both manifolds
Fuel rail and injector install
Make egr block off plates
Remove egr canisters and evap junk
I'm missing more

Then it's a matter of breaking it in and tuning.
