Is a D50 preferable to a D70? I'm a little rough on this range of cameras... but the D70s seem to be out there in good shape with a lens for about $325.

if i could go back to when i bought my dslr, i would have gone d70s. only for personal reasons, like the sub command dial, commander mode. but my 50 was tough and its still a great camera.

Technically the D50 is a D70/D70s in a different package minus a handful of options. For what its worth its the camera I still use and when everything is done correctly, just like with any camera, the results are as great as the newer more expensive models.

Read the bottom portion of this review to see the bullet list of the differences between D50 and D70/s.

I am shooting with a d50 (for now) and like it a lot for what it is. I have heard that the d70 doesnt really give you much more, but if you are going used, I would think the price difference isn't really too much at this point.

Honestly, I would go with whichever you can find a better deal on. Also, check out the Buy/Sell section of http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/
There are some on there, and the board is a good group of guys that know their ****. Not to mention, they charge to post in the Buy/Sell portion so it avoids a lot of scammers. (you may have to do the deal through PM to avoid buying a membership)

With that being said.

bump for my wtb for a journalist bag.

I have some 62mm filters to sell including a circular polarizer. My lenses are all 67 or larger so I have no use. Would sell 3 different filters for $50 bucks which is a good deal considering the circular polarizer was $40 new. Let me know by emailing me
