So I sealed the deal with my internship this summer and start next week, time to start looking for a 1911 sub 800 dollars

Would have a TRP by now if I didnt have a Vegas trip in the coming months, or if i would have got to book it instead of the stupid bride taking care of all the arrangements (hey lets book a wedding in vegas and not inform anybody of the prices, sweet deal)

So let me ask you guys a question..

A few weeks ago, my buddy went into a (he lives 3 minutes from it and has been going there for a while) local bar while carrying (has a LTCF). There was no posted sign that prohibits firearms, so he had no reason to think it would be a problem. Walks in, gets a beer and sits down. Now one of the bartenders there is a complete **** that nobody likes and is always giving people cuunt. He is playing pool and as he is leaning over, his gun sticks out and she sees it. She flips out and kicks him out right away.

The next day there is a sign posted saying no firearms are allowed. When he goes back next week, he goes in without his gun. She is there and says that he needs to leave or she will call the cops. Every time he goes in now, she refuses to serve him and kicks him out, even though he has done wrong.

Last night when he, I and my buddy go in for a beer, she sees him, flips out again, and says that he needs to leave. She not only refuses to serve him, but refuses to serve my friend and I too. Trying to be calm, I explain to her PA's rules on guns but she insists that she knows more than I do and threatens to call the cops. I looked at her and laughed then we walked out.

I understand that establishments can make rules regarding firearms on the premises and to a degree then can ban people from their property, but does she have to right to keep kicking him out for this? Also, my friend and I were not even involved with the original incident but yet she refused to serve us too.

How far should I go to fight this?

In a nutshell...you're basically f*cked. She's an employee and obviously someone there likes her enough to keep her employed. You could try contacting the owner and having a reasonable conversation with him/her but I highly doubt it's going to get you very far if they posted a sign the very next day. Also they'll always give you **** when you come in and without anything short of frisking you they can never be sure you're not carrying in their establishment. IMHO...find a new watering hole and don't give that one your money anymore. Simple as that.

yup, any property owner can tell anyone to leave at any time for nearly any reason, and no explanation is necessary. Obviously guns aren't the only reason, so as an example you could be asked to leave a fancy restaurant for wearing a sleeveless shirt. It's been made a condition of entry and occupation of that person's (or group's) property and you have to abide by it or else they can tell you to leave. The same goes for carrying and any other activity.

Getting kicked out of a place for something and then continuing to go back again and again is reason enough to get handed a trespassing charge if they wanted to be assholes about it. Not that it had anything to do with you, but I can't believe that your friend would keep going back after the bartender seemingly made it very clear that he was not welcome there. I don't really get why he went back. Was he expecting a different response? Besides, if it was a bar I went to myself and I got kicked out because I was carrying, I'd never go back... especially gunless. Any place that's going to flip sh*t about someone carrying does not get a cent from me.

Ya thats pretty much what i tried telling my girlfriend, but its her friends, and the girls wedding so since i dont really know the bride and groom I didnt want to cause a fight over it and be "that guy" who they dont even really know and "mess" with their wedding....

Our flights are like 300 dollars more per person than i found searching in like 15 mins. needless to say i was pretty bent that this girl went ahead and paid for the flights and is now like hey i need that money.

As for Brian, pretty much Munky and Mike summed it up. Ive been in that situation before, but was handled in the opposite manner and with respect on both parts and we went about our evening and since then i still continue to go to that bar, and even now have a more personal relationship with the owners, bar tenders....I would not give anymore of my money to that place you go to and thats about it

Here's what I did Saturday: http://forum.pafoa.org/open-carry-14...ty-thread.html

I have the same user name over there, so you'll see the pics I took.

Aside from the rain it was a really good day. We made a lot of positive impressions on lots of people. I CCed so that I could 'blend in' and get some good candid pics, but most everyone else was OCing. About 15 minutes after getting to city hall I really wished I had just decided to OC anyway, but whatever. Next time I guess.

I love it.

Quote:
"Our officers weren't up to speed [because] we never really addressed it," said Lt. Francis Healy, the department's lawyer.
****ING BULL****!!!!!!

The 2009 MPOETC mandatory training for PA State Police has an entire section devoted to how to handle people open carrying. That means they've been aware (or SHOULD have been aware) of the laws for 2 ****ing years and they still can't figure it out. Excerpt:

Quote:
Question #3- What can police legally do when they observe a person engaging in
open carry?
Answer #3- In most cases, the police cannot engage the person in anything other
than a mere encounter. Unless the person engaged in lawful open carry is in
violation of a specific State or Federal firearm prohibition or is carrying in a
restricted area (For example: prohibitions contained in §6105, possession by a
minor §6110.1, possession on school property §912, possession in a court
facility §913, carrying in Philadelphia §6108, carrying in a vehicle, carrying
during a declared state of emergency §6107), the officer would not have specific
reasonable suspicion of criminal activity merely based on observing a person
engaged in open carry. Therefore, a stop and frisk or any other seizure would
not be legally justified.
These guys are completely full of **** and they know the hammer is about to drop. ****'s getting out of control.

Quote:
Any number of things could have gone wrong during Fiorino's confrontation with Dougherty, Evers said.

For one thing, Evers said, Fiorino could have been shot. Cops who raced to the scene could have gotten into a car accident or injured pedestrians.
WTF??? So if cops who don't know the law kill or hurt someone en route to effecting an illegal arrest for exercising a constitutionally guaranteed right, it's the fault of the guy exercising the right, and not the stupid cops who don't even know the laws they've been entrusted to enforce???

Philly PD needs to be taught a lesson. It's truly disgusting what is happening down there.

EDIT: oh yeah, I also love it that exercising a constitutionally guaranteed right now qualifies as "setting up the police".

On saturday, Mark and I were the first to actually speak to Lt. Healy in a sort of private, off to the side conversation about his case and about the general sad state of affairs in the PPD regarding 2A rights and how we're all being treated. Let me tell you something that's an absolute fact - Lt. Healy is one of the good guys. He did everything except fall on his knees and beg forgiveness for his officers' behavior. He is completely on our side, and by the way he was speaking to us it was clear that he wasn't just taking our side because we were there at that time. His comment about never really addressing it was meant as 'we addressed it, but never pushed it on our officers because we assumed that it would be taken care of in a trickle-down effect from those in charge to the individual street officers.'

If you click my link above to the PAFOA thread about the event, you'll see some videos posted that have some dialogue between us and Lt. Healy and some of the other officers. Those guys were great all day and a lot of dirty laundry was aired out. Lt. Lisa King however... Let's just say that the "gun permits unit" a lot of room for improvement (i.e. obeying the law).

I can't begin to explain how happy I am that standing in the rain all day helped to (hopefully) bring about some change in the city. It's a small step in the right direction, but a much needed one.

Although I have the XDM 40, I can honestly say that you have a tough choice because they are both excellent guns.
