Ken Hill from Oracle Tuning in the LV. He came highly recomended by FlyinMiata, and another local with an MSM actually has Ken working on his car now and said good things. Between him and getting the Megasquirt, I feel a lot more confident that this motor will last.

I was reading around and someone said 300whp in here is enough to surprise vette at 450whp. You guys know if megasquirt allows to have more than one map?

300hp in your car is a low 10 second car?

Why do you assume I meant 1/4 mile? 300hp here is no traction off the line because of weight and tires, but it'll pick up real fast after that. And again, just what I heard. The dude that said it does a lot of road racing, I'm sure he meant it in that respect. Not that it matters either way, I'm not out to beat anyone really

One of the guys on the MX5 Miata forum claim that their 250whp turbocharged NC MX-5 kept up with a C5 Vette Z06 from 40 to 115mph, then the Vette started accelerating away after.

Ask any racer, any real racer (lol) and they'll tell you power to weight is everything. When you've got 300whp, and only 2500lbs to move, you're in business. Yes with how much the build and turbo setup is going to cost in the end, I could have probably bought another stock mazdaspeed miata, but its going to be a different animal. My buddy is a huge ford guy and he giggled at the concept of 300whp in my car and asked if I was trying to create a modern day Shelby Cobra (ultra light with wads of power).

Anyhow, parts start arriving today, I'm stoked. I think I might wait longer and piece my own turbo system together, which should save me a few bucks and open the budget to a 3.63 rear (4.10, 300whp, and a short peened 6speed wont go well together) and hopefully a bigger fuel system. I'm hoping that the built engine can last ~10 years @<5000mi/year with proper maintenance and without excessive abuse.

not that i know of but they are simple and fast to reflash hell they even have a app to run the dash board and reflash from a android based phone called msdroid

Awesome, thanks for the heads-up for the app. What do I need to actually interface the MS2 in my car to the app? Bluetooth connector of some kind for the obd2 port?

Does mega squirt allow boost by gear? If so I highly recommend it if it isn't in they by default!

Not sure on that part. I'll have to talk to the guy making my MS, as well as my tuner to see. I'd need an EBC Solenoid for this feature though right?

Something of that nature. I have experience through hondata that uses a Mac solenoid that is plumbed just like a boost controller and wired into the ecu to read pressures and limit boost by rpm/vehicle speed. Does wonders for traction

Here are the Wiseco 83.50mm pistons, 8.6:1 compression. Mmmm, shame I'll never see them again (hopefully) haha. Yes I got 4. Was pretty surprised to how light they were.

Also got a boundary engineering billet oil pump. Might add a harmonic balancer later when I do the big turbo setup. Expecting this thing to be back sometime February.

Anyone installed Megasquirt before? Might need a hand when the time comes.

Also a pretty funny thing I found out. It turns out the vin on the oil pan doesnt match the car so the engine has already been swapped once before, so sometime before 35k miles. Its highly unlikely that someone just changed the pan, there'd be little reason for it
